How to NOT get kicked from a MvM Game
By ·exo· and 1 collaborators
Hello people!

This guide is mostly my work, BaK just fixes my terrible English and I thank him a lot for that!
Also this guide isn't about how to play MvM!
it is just about how to increase the chance of staying in a lobby with experienced players and should give you a rough idea on how a big part of the MvM community really is!

This guide is supposed to be both: criticism of the majority of the MvM community, and as help for new players to get a higher chance of getting into MVM, building a friendbase and enjoying the game with friends while completing tours!

First of all, I am going to talk a bit about who I am and why I feel capable enough to write such a guide, and why i feel the need of it.
so here we go:

My name is exo, my favorite classes are scout and sniper, but I can play all of the classes for MvM, I have roughly spent 1700 hours in MvM, not the most time spent in MvM but I never closed my mind, and I try to improve my skills, that's a thing not many people are doing nowadays. I play a mix of Expert (~240 tours on the badge, many more repeated), 2c (deleted a few badges with roughly 150-175 tours) and mecha (70 tours on the badge and also repeated a lot) so I think I have a rough idea on how the game works and a big thing I have over some others with many more tours: I understand which class is picked when, and why.
i write this guide because kicking with a very minor or no reason at all is a terrible thing and I don't want to take my place in a community where this is a thing.

This is a personal, emotional comment about how i fell about the MvM Community right now, you can skip to read it if you are just here to read about how to not get kicked from a MvM game
MvM feels like a virtual world of feminism right now.

On to some basic stuff :
I will tell you a way to guarantee a slot in a MvM lobby with experienced players!
Well.. there is none. I saw many people getting kicked before they even got a chance to select a class.

One way to decrease the chance of getting kicked is to not give a crap about how people play the game, they do it how they learned it, even if it's a pretty bad way of doing things, and letting them tell you what to do and listen to them.

Another way to decrease the chance of getting kicked is to get a high tour number and to not be a constant troll, or to have a name in the "community" of MvM

BUT hold on and continue to read this guide! I will put some stuff up to make your spot in the team more secure!
So I wanna start with “THE MOST TERRIBLE THING” to do to a “skilled” player:
NEVER EVER criticize a player in mvm
if you do this, you have 90% chance of getting a kick, even though many players play a class in a pretty inefficient way, don't tell them! They will just get very mad at you and kick you. I got blocked by a bunch of "friends" who I have been playing with for a long time because I turned into the elitist they are and started to do the same things as they do to people with a low tour count.
I criticized them.

For example: saying that a buff banner should be shared with the team to get both a higher score, and give the team a 50% damage buff to a 90% soldier player, he removed me from his friendlist. Shortly after I started to do the thing he has been doing since I've known him.
Some other things NOT to do on the "social" side of MvM
never ask a "skilled" player why he picked a certain class
Many people simply can not answer such a question, many players with 100+ tours learned to play the game by watching truely skilled people and don't really understand the reason why a class is played.

never compliment their expensive stuff
Some just wont care if you do that but I have seen many that reply with "f**k off poor noob" or something like that. Also don't ask about how many tours it took to get an australiam weapon.

dont have a opinion or own mind
if you have a opinion that differs ever so slightly form the opinion of a "skilled" player they cant deal with it, even if you might have an idea to improve your gameplay.. just dont.. follow the meta (and instructions if you are lucky enough to get them!)

Never insult a "skilled" player even tho they insulted you first, just stay clam and take their insults. they have to compensate their small manhood somehow.

Never try to have fun if your "fun" differs from the general meta playing style.
Now on to some gameplay related things:
Never double pick a class unless its heavy
The "meta" of all expert and some mecha maps is to have a engy, a scout, a demo OR a sniper, a pyro (blowback or phlog for tanks) and TWO heavies.
The "meta" on 2c is different, I have not met a player who can explain why tho, but in 2c you replace a heavy with a medic. And 2c is the only place where a medic actually is welcome.
BaK's explaination for a medic in 2c maps:
This is because of the amount of 'cheap tricks' used in TC (the crit spam crowds) and only the medics shield can suppress that.

NEVER pick spy
Spy is only picked in giant medic waves during Expert and sometimes on Mecha, even I, with my 230+ tours got highly mocked on for going spy on the first wave of Experts Coal Town.

NEVER pick weapons like Tomislav as heavy or the stock flamer as pyro during tank waves
Even though the Tomislav isn't that bad of a gun, if you know how to use it, its highly hated by over 90% of the players.
The pyro is a rather inexpensive class if you just buy the upgrades you actually need to get the tanks killed, so you can buy a bunch of canteens to melt the tank down but that doesnt matter too much.

Never buy stupid upgrades like health regen, knockback rage, or more than one point in rocket specialist.
Upgrades are a pretty minor thing tbh, but they can make a game really easy, take a bit of your time and read a guide about that stuff before playing mvm and save yourself a bunch of insults and kicks
NEVER pick sniper if the team doesnt already know you are a good sniper
NEVER go afk during the game
Conclusion:
I like to compare MOST players of MvM to feminism and the SJW cult of nowadays.
because roughly the same things generate hate against you and make people angry.
Many people in MvM think they already know everything even tho it's most likely that they don't even know how to play their mein class in the most efficient and scoring way, and becaus of that narrowmindedness many people will stay on a really low level of skill without even wanting to improve their level of skill.

to sum up the stuff not to do:

Don't be an idiot even tho you never got the chance to learn by playing the game

Don't criticize the inefficient or blatantly bad way "skilled" players play.

Don't ask questions, get your info from some guides (If the demans is big enough i will create guides for the classes i play)
Do not have your own opinion about how to play a class, or what weapons to use.

Do not have fun if it is something outside of the meta.

if you want to have fun while playing MvM and enjoy playing in a fun and maybe "stupid" way, you sadly have to build a friendbase to play with in the first place

Thank you very much for reading this "guide" on how to not get kicked in your first 5 minutes of the game!
I will try to answer to most serious comments, trolls will be ignored :)

Feel free to share the guide, comment and upvote it if you like my work!

Also kudos to BaK for fixing my terrible English writing skills!

well, i can't judge a situation without exactly knowing what happened, and i don't really care.
But like i said, listeting to commands will keep you in >70% of lobbies, from the little facts i know you didn't listen and therefore you got kicked.

don't get me wrong, i'm not a big fan of the meta tbh.. it's just boring if you play in a 6-player lobby and everyone is skilled and experienced.
But when it comes to pubbs, especially if i run into 5 players with besically 0 experience, meta is the best option.

well.. the meta settled in over years of gameplay, it's a start that tends to work best with most teams, and if a blank tour player stops by and says: "hey mates, let's not play meta. I got a better idea" it's realativly clear what happens.
If you then refuse to listen if you get asked to switch it's even clearer that you'll get a boot.
