Note on Status
This mod is for EU4's patch 1.22, and will not work with any later patches, nor will it be updated further.

For what I hope might be considered a spiritual successor to this mod, please refer to Beyond Typus, which attempts to take this project and expand upon it.




This is the great HR's masterpiece, Beyond the Pale, updated to EU4 Patch: 1.22

The only changes to the HR's original work are things which must be altered due to new systems introduced in later patches, or changes implemented by Paradox outside of the region covered by the original Beyond the Pale.

For an expanded, more detailed, and historically accurate Europe.


Features:
- Adds 300 provinces throughout Europe
- More dynamic trade: adds five new nodes (Murava, Valencia, Napoli, the Danube, and the Irish Sea), restores Sevilla and Champagne to end nodes, and combines Novgorod and the White Sea
- New cultures: Arpitan, Frisian, Northumbrian, Highland Scottish, Cornish, Manx, Hiberno-Norman, Bosnian, Slovene, Slovak, Sorbian, and Icelandic
- New countries: dozens of new countries present at the 1444 start, and new formable nations: Iberia (Portugal-specific cultural union), Belgium, Illyria (South Slavic union), Great Moravia (West Slavic union), and Tír na Celtigh (Celtic union with unique ideas)
- New Colonial Region: Greenland
- Improved Kingdom of God decision, with buffed modifier and unique government form (Regnum Dei)
- More challenging and rewarding gameplay in Ireland with two paths to uniting the island, each with its own rewards
- Lots of minor cosmetic improvements (incl. flags, government names, & province names)


Subscribing to Unit Packs Extended Lite by SaintDaveUK is strongly recommended and will solve any issues with missing/incorrect unit models.

...that is... most unfortunate. However, this should mean that progress on Typus speeds up. ^^
Despite me not talking much, I've been keeping an eye on it, and I'm excited to see how far it goes! ^^

I'm afraid I must to be the bearer of bad news.

I'm officially announcing the end of support for this classic version of BtP in order to focus my attention on Beyond Typus , which I've endeavoured to make into a spiritual successor to HR's wonderful map overhaul. This classic version of the mod will be locked to version 1.22 and not updated further.

The massive changes in 1.25, including 5 new tags and 33 new provinces in Western Europe, is quickly bringing the unmodded game to very similar levels of detail. In light of this, I can't justify the ever increasing effort to maintain this version.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to congratulate @HR on his brilliant work! It took nearly 4 years after BtP was first published for Paradox to catch up (and implement a nearly identical layout to the one HR designed in 2014). Thank you for sharing your work with the community!

Oi, I'm awful! So sorry I keep forgetting to keep this up to date, I've been working on my primary project, Beyond Typus, which is intended to be a continuation of this.

Seriously, I'll try to update as soon as I can =/

It should be mostly compatible, if you want to take the risk. Although I doubt an update is too far off. >~<

It's hard for me to have a good England game without this mod. I guess I'll just have to wait. Keep up the good work with updating.

Salut !! Oui j'ai vu ton projet qui à l'air trés prometteur, perso je reverais d'une map avec bcp plus de provinces pour l'ae et permettrais aussi d'être plus réaliste ainsi qu'éviterai les big blob trop rapides!

Oups! 1.24 m'a pris par surprise et dans la confusion il paraît que j'ai oublié de mettre ce mod-ci à jour! =/

Je suis en train de faire un hotfix pour mon project principal , qui a la priorité, mais après cela, je vais rattraper cette version classique.

Coucou vas tu le mettre a jour en 1.24 (j'espère) ? J'apprécies vraiment le rajout de toute ces provinces et c'est bien l'un des seuls mods a le faire !! Y a MEIOU aussi mais faut utiliser le mod complet que j'aime moyennement :/

I do apologise, I forgot to post here!

It is rather a massive patch, you know, so unfortunately it will take some time. My personal goal for my main project, Beyond Typus, is the 15th of December. Due to the overlap, this mod should be easy to finish and updated within 5 days after that.

not trying to be annoying, but could you give me any rough estimation how long it will approximately take to update the mod to the newst version? :) Keep it going this is a great mod!
