Introduction
Hello and welcome to my easy guide! This guide you're about to read will teach you how to fix the error that has been happening to a bunch of Making History: The Calm & The Storm owners. There is a YouTube video at the end of this guide for you guys to follow if you need the visual tutorial. Thank you guys for reading!
The Start Button
So to begin the fix for the error, we need to get into the registry of your computer. For Windows 7, you have to access it from the start menu. Click on your start menu button at the bottom left of your desktop.

Searching for the Run Tool
Now that we've access the start menu of your computer, we need to find the run tool. To do this, access the search bar with your newly founded start menu right above the start menu button. Once you find the search bar, type in the word run and then search for it.

The Run Tool
After you search run in the search bar, a window will pop up named simply Run with the description "Type the name of a program, folder, document, or Internet resource, and Windows will open it for you." This simply means that we're going to find tools in your computer given to us by Microsoft. In the box below, type in regedit and click the ok button.

The Registry
Now that you have the registry open, you may be a little confused on what is here exactly. Don't worry, you won't have to deal with a lot of this stuff. As a matter of fact, you'll only need to deal with the folder named HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT in the registry (The first folder).

The Virtualstore File
After opening the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT folder, there will be at least a million more in it. Scroll all the way down until you find the Virtualstore folder (The folders are in alphabetical order).

The Muzzy Lane Software Folder
Once you find this, open the folder. Then, open the MACHINE folder. After that, open the SOFTWARE folder. Next, open the Wow6432Node folder. Finally, you will have a list of different folders to choose from with Muzzy Lane Software being one of the options.

Deleting the folder
Once you find the Muzzy Lane Software folder, now it's time to delete it! Click on the folder itself and press the delete key on your keyboard (Above the arrow keys). Click yes when given the option and the folder will be deleted.

Conclusion
And there you go! Your Making History: The Calm & The Storm game should work next time you launch it through steam. I hope this guide was easy to follow and that it helped you fix your problem. If you have any concerns for this guide or recommendations for more guides I should make, tell me! Feedback is always important! Thanks again guys and have fun taking over the world.

Can't get it to work under Proton. If I use local wine regedit on the prefix the key reappears on every launch.
Perhaps using the proton regedit to do it might work, but the env variables and stuff are ding-dang black magick with proton and I can't get it to stop throwing arcane errors.
I refunded.

It might be a good idea to update this for windows 10 and after. However, with the help of this article, which Steam support led me to, I was able to fix this problem.
