SEGA Mega Drive & Genesis Classics

Chronological order by release year
By Kyle07
I've sorted all Sega Genesis / Mega Drive games by release year, to create for me a little structure in which order I should play all these games. I created this list already on Friday, 28. December 2012. So I asked myself, why I haven't published this yet with the world?

Please note: So I don't own them. For Ecco 1 & 2 I've added the release date of the SEGA CD and Win95 release date, just for information. The soundtracks there are really good, try to get this versions if you can.

For arcade ports I posted also the year of the arcade version and the homeconsole release. However. I've listed these games always by the year of the arcade version release.

I like to play games in chronological order. Thank you for this! :steamhappy:

I appreciate the responses/more info. Censorship is always interesting as it is so subjective and arbitrary.

I have a German copy of Resident Evil 4 which is also censored in a lot of ways. I remember that EU version of last of us also got something similar. It is really strange indeed though at some of these missing games. I'm not complaining to you by the way, it is interesting actually to know something like that, even when it is re-released as a special collection they are still not available over there apparently

To be honest I never heard of the game and yes, as I live in Germany, some SEGA games are banned. I included some banned games on this list, because I was aware of these games back then.

I have included it now. Thanks for the hint. :)

Lol I don't know why sth like Flicky would be banned. Maybe because it showed some harm. But these times are gone, where games get banned or heavily censored in Germany.

That's what I'm wondering... it's pretty laughable, especially considering there are more controversial games that are on this list of released titles, e.g. Bonanza Bros, Streets of Rage, Eternal Champions etc.
Guess it just wasn't considered to be potentially financially profitable enough or something similar?

Why would a game like Flicky be banned from Germany?
The Fiend 17 Jul, 2021 @ 4:05am
I don't see Flicky. Am disappoint.
