The lay of the Land

This, lad, will be the land that you will be looking after....Beautiful, isn't it?

Riverwood isn't exactly the 'jewel in the crown' of Skyrim, but better here than being a Riften guard - they have to put up with a lot... Knew a lot of good men join the Riften Guard and never come back.

And about this Dragonborn? he isn't the REAL Dragonborn... How do I know? I don't want to talk about it right now, but lets just say, that I just to be an adventurer like you, but then I took a steady job as a guard...
Crime and Punishment
Here is a list of crimes and their relative bounty payments:

  • Theft - Half the stolen item's value
  • Trespassing - 5 gold
  • Pickpocketing - 25 gold
  • Assault - 40 gold
  • Horse theft - 50 gold each time the horse is mounted
  • Escaping jail - 100 gold
  • Forging a business ledger - 100 gold
  • Murder - 1000 gold
  • Transforming into a werewolf or a Vampire Lord or back to natural form even if they were not seen transforming earlier - 1000 gold
  • Lollygaggin' - varies on sub-type of Idleness and number of offences, and how much they are willing to bribe you
Oh, did I say 'Bribe'?
I mean't.....um....find, I'll come clean.....

the Number 1. rule of being a Skyrim Guard - aside from making comments on our pre-marriage adventurering days - is that when you are offered a bribe, you damn well take it because this job doesn't pay s***
General Duties
Patrol the town. Come to the aid of civilians in need. Punish criminals by hauling them to jail or collecting fines and taking their stolen items - or take a bribe.

Stop drunken brawls and petty thievery. Don't worry 'bout bandits. Been too long since we had a good Bandit raid. Wear your armour at all times, for we are the arm and the eyes and ears of the Jarl, but remember to get some knee-guards, as that don't come standard.
Finally....Oh, by Thorig's Beard!!

Dragon.....this isn't in the job desciption......go get the people to safety, NOW!

*A.Guard shouts 'Fus Ro Dah'*

Guards: We're bored behind our walls and rarely see any danger other than a rat with the plague once every red sun. Bandits on the other hand well...
Bandits: We pillage small towns and inns, we camp out under the stars, we hide out in caves and everyone once in awhile we deal with a petty traveler, The Dragonborn? My a***

I'd like to see a guide on how to be a bandit. Sounds a lot more fun than being a guard. :steamhappy:
