Your First Hour In Wurm - A Player Guide

I purchased Wurm Unlimited for my Father for his 60th birthday gift. I stayed at his house for the first hour of game time and watched him struggle through the horrific "newb guide" that is provided. I cringed the whole time as he struggled with understanding how to play the game. My father has been playing MMO for over 15 years from the start of the Indy game (the 4th coming) to Asherons Call.

if you want to get out of the 'tutorial' and learn on your own, you can use the /skip tutorial command and it will complete it. your journal will still fill in missions/tasks as you go. there are a lot of really helpful server communities in pve games that are great for helping people learn and get on their feet.

Thank you for having this guide up! I have also struggled with the in-game tutorial, especially since 1) when it tells you "cut down a tree" or "mine some rock", you may have to go quite a ways to find unclaimed land to do this on (even if you start in a "starter town"), and 2) many servers say if you do certain missions, you will stall/crash their servers because of various mods they use. I'm still not sure which tutorials are safe to accept.

@MootRed - that is excellent news. Just FYI (in case you did not read the post on the main forum - or I had not ever told you about my evil plan) I am finally going to get to teach my new class on computer games (if any students sign up) in the Spring. Wurm has always been on the short list and that means 10-15 education / comm majors who may be needing to watch your videos ; )

Hi loki, I still play. I think, for the most part, most of them are current except the cooking has changed a little but the basics are the same

Hey mootred - you still actively playing this game? Making videos and other helpful stuff? They were excellent resources when I first started and wondered if they were still "current" or if you had done others.
