Missions, Items, and UI
- Talk to Omochao on the map screen and you'll get a set of 3 missions to do. Missions are your achievements in this game. You also win items by completing missions.

- The items you obtain are placed in your inventory and can be used anytime in-game by pressing the Right Stick on a Gamepad and selecting your item.

- The items have a rating of 1 to 4 stars. The more stars it has, the better the item will be. For example, if you have a shield power-up with 1 star, you can only take one hit before it disappears. But if you have a 4-star shield, you can take 4 hits before it goes away.

- You can view your current missions anytime by pressing the Left Stick on a Gamepad.

- You must complete the stage you're in for the mission to actually be completed, despite unlocking the achievement on Steam.

- You don't have to beat all 3 of your current missions to get new ones. As soon as you beat one mission and clear the stage, Omochao will be back on the overworld to give you a new mission if you talk to him. And Omochao will always be on the current world you're on. (i.e: Beat a mission on Desert Ruins, he'll be in Desert Ruins.)

- Sometimes a tutorial icon will appear above the Omochao icon in-game on the bottom left. Press Select on the Gamepad to view it's message.
Sonic's Spin Dash, Homing Attack, and General Moveset
- Sonic will carry whatever momentum he has with him in his jumps. The speed that Sonic is moving on the ground is the speed he'll go in the air. So if you try to jump while moving really slow, you won't get much distance, and vice versa.

- Sonic's first jump will hurt any enemy he touches, but the double jump will make him vunerable to enemies if touched.

- You can very slightly change direction with the double jump, even at maximum speed.

- Jumping and pressing the duck button will make Sonic bounce on the ground, which can destroy enemies. If you bounce 3 times in a row, you'll get a bigger jump that can potentially reach ledges.

- If you hold the run button while standing still, Sonic will spin his feet into a Figure-8 and you'll get a burst of speed when you let go, moving faster than normally dashing temporarily.

- While charging the spin dash, you can repeatedly tap the jump button to give yourself much more speed when you let go.

- If you Spin Dash, and continue holding down the button, Sonic will constantly spin dash until you let go. You can also jump and hit the ground again whilst holding the button, and Sonic will keep spin dashing. This is great for Speedruns and Time Attack.

- While Sonic can infinitely Spin Dash, he will stop if you touch Ice, Sand, Water, hazards, or Enemies that have more than 1HP.

- Spin Dashing up any kind of ramp or incline at max charge will give Sonic huge vertical distance.

- While holding the Spin Dash, you can change your direction by holding in whatever direction you want, and Sonic will go off in that direction.

-The Homing Attack can lock-on to multiple enemies at once if they're within close proximity to each other. It can also be charged up if you face an enemy with more than 1 HP, as you'll see the reticle gets more circles around it. You can charge it up to 4 times.

- The homing attack reticle will only show up when you're facing the enemy, and will charge up when you start jumping in the air.

- Sonic's kick ability will instantly destroy any enemy that would normally take more than one than one homing attack. You can also use the kick to knock the enemy into other enemies, and kick projectiles at badniks.
Parkour
Parkour is a new feature in Lost World, but many people in reviews have stated that they don't really know how it works, so here's some pointers on how to properly use the parkour.

- In both 3D and 2D areas, Sonic will ALWAYS trigger parkour if he touches any wall while the run button is held. For 3D areas, If it's a vertical wall, Sonic will run upwards, and he can reach ledges if he gets close enough. If the wall is horizontal, Sonic will run forwards, and you can jump from wall to wall if there's another one on the opposite side.

- Horizontal walls can be climbed upwards too if you face it directly.

- You can run on ceilings too if you have enough speed.

- Sonic will NEVER trigger parkour if the run button isn't held. This applies to both 3D and 2D sections.

- Obviously, the more speed you have, the higher/farther you'll go. It's a good idea to spin dash before you reach a wall.

- You can parkour from a horizontal wall to a vertical wall to head upwards. However, if you JUMP from a horizontal wall onto a vertical wall, Sonic will continue to move sideways instead of going upwards.

- Spin dashing on a wall will give Sonic more distance, making him climb higher up vertical walls and give him more distance on horizontal ones.

- Any sort of jumping will cancel out any parkour movement unless you jump in the opposite direction. (Like wall jumping for example.) Double jumping however, will kill any momentum entirely.

- Sonic can move from side to side on a vertical wall if you hold right/left and press the jump button. This means you can also transition from a vertical wall to a horizontal one.

- In 2D sections, Sonic can only move upwards while parkouring, but he will try to grab the ledges of any wall, no matter how small it is. It's generally better to not hold the run button if you're trying to get past something. Sonic can also Spin Dash up walls if there's a little ramp, and can also jump off the wall to another one, activating parkour.
Environment and Wisps
- In levels with ice, if you jump whilst on ice holding the run button, Sonic will twirl in the air, and you cannot double jump or use the homing attack because of that. But if you jump on ice and DON'T hold the run button, Sonic will normally jump and you can then double jump and homing attack.

- Lots of trees contain hidden springs which can lead to red star rings, always try to climb them if you can.

- The red enemies with the spiraling fire in Desert Ruins Act 1 will have it's fire circle around you, but you can dodge it as long as you jump.

- The Laser wisp will suck in any rings near it and destroys any enemies. If you decide not to use the crystals to go on a straightforward path, you can use it to get past an entire section quickly since it can also ricochet off walls.

- You can move faster with the Drill wisp by holding the dash button.

- For the Asteroid wisp, hold the jump button on the ground to get some height, then hold it in the air to stay in the air for as long as you hold it.

- You can only obtain the Bomb wisp by completing missions. It gets bigger and bigger as you destroy more enemies, and explodes when the time runs out, incinerating any enemies nearby. The more stars the bomb wisp has (As in, the stars when the obtain it), the bigger it'll be when you activate it.

- In rail grinding segments, while jumping in the air, if you hold up, you'll move faster. If you hold down, you'll slow down. Same goes for right and left respectively in the 2D perspective.

I hope this guide gave you a few pointers on the game, or if it was useful at all. If you got any other questions, please feel free to ask them in the comments and I'll be happy to answer, and put them in the guide!

The super peel out (holding the run button) doesn't work. Even when I charge it up for 3+ seconds, when I release the button nothing happens.

This review was pretty helpful, but I'm still having some trouble. The controls seem inconsistent between the wiiU and PC version, and so things like hanging on ceilings don't seem to work no matter what buttons I press, and I'm not sure HOW to do a kick in order to take out the spiders in the silent forest. I really wish the game had just told me these basic functions in maybe a tutorial? Either way if anyone has a more detailed description of the given moveset, I'd be really grateful. Thanks again

This is a great guide. I keep trying to come back to this game and it isn't the mechanics which are a problem but the controller mapping. Dash on the trigger, no dpad and such are so counter-intuitive and if I switch to playing a different Sonic game I have to redo all the muscle memory. Is there a good way to remap the buttons? No custom config is a deal breaker.

Woah, I've been playing this for like 3 years and never knew that Bomb got bigger as you killed enemies, that makes the "destroy X enemies with a Black Bomb explosion" missions WAY easier than just continually farming missions in hopes you eventually get a 3 or 4 star black bomb and then get lucky

Just spent forty lives getting the fifth red coin in Silent Forest 3. Wow does parkouring suck. But even more without these hints jeez.

Also an addition: Hold the duck button to roll. It seems useless, but you ignore ground effects while rolling, so if you get stuck in slime, roll out! Won't this just spread the get slime all over your body? Of course not!
