When you first spawn in, you'll notice a few things. You should have a flare, and some clothing. The first thing you want to do is figure out which way is towards civilization. You can choose anything to mark this, but make sure you remember where it is. (examples of civilizationland marks: roads, signs, abandonedcars, ect.) You'll want to move your flare, map, and all of your gause into your waist back, and begin shreading all of your clothing (Shirt and Pants). Now that you have this done, it's best that you run and grab the following (Minimum, but feel free to over do it, as it will help in the long run!)

11x Sticks (Suggested: 21)
25x Black Berries (Suggested: 25, as you'll probably kill somone or find food by the time you run out)

Okay! Great! Now what you'll need to do is discover a Makeshift Bow, Satchel, and a Wooden Arrow. Here are the recipies as of now:
Makeshift Bow = Scrap of Cloth+Stick
Wooden Arrow = Stick
Satchel = Scrap of Cloth

You're going to want to make a Makeshift bow, a Satchel, and at least 10 arrows. Great! You're on your way to becoming established in the game, and being a pro!

Once you have a means of defence (Makeshift Bow) and a way to hold a bunch of loot (Satchel) it's time to begin scavenging. You'll want to stay off the road, but close enough to see it's direction and follow it to the nearest group of buildings. (Reminder: high ground is key!) Do not engage in combat unless challenged by an enemy. You're going to want to search cars, buildings, and anything else you can find. Remember, you don't have much space, so only hold 1 food item and one hydration item (excluding Black Berries) on you. Here is a nice little checklist of other items you're going to want to search for, and where to find them!

10 Scrap Metal (Found mainly in cars, and can be retrieved by hitting cars with crowbars too!)
1 Stick (You'll be able to pick this up anywhere around the map, and will need one for later.)
Water Supply (Be it a lake or a well, you're going to need to stick close to one.)

Once you've garthered those supplies, you're probably going to want to turn them into what they are intended for, and do it as fast as possible! You'll need to make a Makeshift Hatchet and a Furnace and find a good place to hide the Furnace when placing it (example: In a bathroom, in the woods, ect.) Here is the item's you'll need to put into the discovery tab to find how to make them:

Furnace = 1 Metal Bracket, 8 Scrap Metal
Metal Bracket = 1 Scrap Metal
Makeshift Hatchet = 1 Scrap Metal, 1 Stick

Once you have all of this, it's time to get to work on setting up a home.

To make a home, you're going to want space, and be in a good place to farm scrap metal. Where we just left off, we were hiding our furnace and making a hatchet. Now it's time to head back into the city, and scavenge for more supplies. (Keep an eye on food and water levels as you move. You'll want to keep them up at all costs!) We're going to set up a Small Shack, and a Metal Door to put on the Shack. And to do this, we're going to need to search for a few specific things:

*Pro tip: by now, you've probably seen a garage or apartment building. Look in them, and the tool cabinets inside them. They have crowbars, and you'll need one later on!

9 Scrap Metal (Again, found in cars, or by hitting cars with a crowbar.)
3 Logs (For this, use your hatchet to chop down a tree. This will yield anywhere from 1 to 4 logs per go. If you run out of space, store 4 scrap metal in your furnace.)

Great! Now it's time to get back to the furnace and get to work.
You'll need to discover Metal Bars, by putting one scrap metal into your Discovery Tab. You're going to want to put one log and 4 scrap metal in your furnace, and light it using either a lighter (If you found one) or a Bow Drill.

Bow Drill recipe = 1 Stick, 1 Scrap of Cloth, and 1 Wood Plank

While the furnace is smelting, let's start working on making the parts we'll need for the base. Turn 4 scrap metal into 4 metal brackets, and turn 1 scrap metal into metal shards, and then the metal shards into nails.

Recipies:
Metal shard = 1 scrap metal
Nails = 1 metal shard

Once you're done with that, grab your 4 metal bars out of the furnace, and discover metal sheets.

Metal sheet = 2 metal bars

And finally, discover and build a small shack (4x Wood Planks, 2x Metal Brackets, 4x Nails) and also discover and build a metal door (2x Metal Brackets, 2x Metal Sheets)

When placing the small shack, you're going to want to put it near your hidden furnace, as you'll be making trips to it from now and then. Place your base ontop of a car, so that you can hit the car from inside the base. Choose a car off the road, and away from other people if you can. Finally, place your metal door and give it a passcode! From here, simply farm with your crowbar until you're ready to move into a new and bigger base!
