This guide teaches how to install alternative camera. This small modification will NOT break online play - trust me I use this all-time, always have. Its a short guide and well worth following, unless you like the normal camera's limited perspective.

Does your ingame view look somthing like this?



Would you not prefer to be able to zoom further out so you have a better field of view over the battlefireld? So your view is more like this:


Follow these simple steps if you want better camera.

STEP 1:

Download.. Purgation of Kaurava Alpha 1.53 , link below will take you to site, hit red download button and wait or follow instruction.

STEP 2:

Install.. Purgation of Kaurava Alpha 1.53


STEP 3:

Go to... C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Dawn of War Soulstorm\Purgation_Kaurava\Data

search for three files and copy them so you can paste them elsewhere, the files are:

camera_ed
camera_high
camera_low

*these files are all 'Lua' files*


STEP 4:

paste the three camera files here:

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Dawn of War Soulstorm\DXP2\Data


CONGRATULATIONS! You just enhanced your SS experiance ten fold! enjoy xD

PS: This is not only way you can do this, perhaps you play a differant mod and the cameras are better in that than reguklar SS so maybe you'd like to use them instead. Im only recommend PoK camera because its the one ive used.

Hello, i am sorry for the off-topic question.
If you can please help me out.

I want to edit the destination_formation.lua for Dark Crusade and Soulstorm.
I can extract the lua from game files using Corsix mod studio & edit the lua with Notepad.
But i do not know in what folder should i place the edited destination_formation.lua so that the game is forced to load it (instead of the vanilla lua)?

Its far easier downloading the bugix mod v156 and using its camera (the two camera files files found in X:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dawn of War Soulstorm\Bugfix\Data

and probably more useful since if you want to play ONLY the main game, this fixes bugs, no balance changes

Camera zooms out just enough to be very useful (not too far)
and zooms in more so there is a better view of all those luscious armor seams with clear detail of bolts, fasteners and sticky notes.

I use the bugfix camera_high.lua and camera_low.lua files in all the different mods and am quite pleased with it.

Sampling files from mods without the explicit permission of the mod's author is not an ethical practice. OP wasn't dumb, he was in fact, smart and remaining respectful by giving the official link and source of the mod.

The Inquisiton will not seek him out.
