Introduction
This is a guide to all of the items in the game. Note that this game has a tax system: everything has a tax applied which starts at 100%. The costs reported below are pre-tax. So at the start of the game, everything will cost twice as much as it says on the tables below. Be sure to explore places thoroughly for loot. Most containers have items, most computers have data, and the moving plants have genetic information (and, possibly, diseases).

If you're wondering why the little bags dropped by enemies never seem to have anything in them, it's because they contain credits. But there's no message to inform you of how many. The identical little bags that were not dropped by enemies contain items.
Stat Boosters
Your character has HP and three different stats: scientific, engineering and tactical skill. Certain drugs can permanently increase this, though there seems to be a small chance of something going wrong, so you may wish to save before taking them.

Medecines
This is a list of the medical items which restore HP or battery power. Battery is used when you fire your laser. Both HP and battery are also restored by a level up. There are also disease cures. There are three different diseases which drain the three different stats (tactical, engineering & science), each of which is cured by the cure bearing the same name. Diseases are usually contracted by harvesting gentic samples. Crystals can be harvested from crystal objects on planets, especially the crystals in crystal caves. The medical leaves below are usually harvested from plants on planets. The health boosts can be crafted from genetic material on your ship.

Crafting Items
These items are used for crafting. You talk to the appropriate officer on your ship to use these items. They will ask for a certain number of crafting items to make use of their services. Genetic material can be harvested from most plants (especially moving ones), including those on space stations. Tech components are found in random loot, especially on shelves or in lockers.

I don't know quite how to classify the data items, but I've put them here as you more or less sell them for quests to the office through the right door of the Earth station. Ghost data, naturally, comes from Ghost ships. You can download data from most of the computers you find.

Components

These are used to repair and upgrade your mechs. Talk to the mech officer on your ship for more details. You can only have as many mechs as your ship has mech slots. Beware of having too many mechs: friendly fire becomes far more likely. It takes 200 components of the appropriate level to upgrade a mech and 25 to repair it. So the starter mech takes 200 Low Tech components to upgrade and 25 to repair. Then you upgrade it twice and it needs 25 Medium Tech components to repair or 200 Medium Tech components to upgrade. After you upgrade it twice with 200 High Tech components, it will be at max level.

Genetics

Data

Once you sell enough 1 TB Disks to the information brokers on the right side of the Earth starbase, you will be able to take their quest and obtain the Red Wormhole Matter, which allows you to use the red wormholes and visit Ghost space.

Mechs
Mechs are AI-controlled companions that help you fight when boarding ships or other first-person combat. Beware of having too many Mechs, because friendly fire becomes more likely. Mechs will be destroyed if they take enough damage, in which case they have to be repaired on your ship, at the Earth station, or from an event. You can also bring one back with the Mech repair kit. You might find it useful to save those for bosses, rather than trying to keep your Mechs alive throughout an entire planet or starbase.

You can only use as many Mechs as your starship can hold. The remainder can be viewed (or upgraded) at Earth starbase. They are not lost when changing ships, but will return once you use a ship with enough Mech bays to support them.

Every Mech starts at level 1 and can be upgraded to a maximum of level 7 for 200 components. They can be repaired for 25 of the same type of component type used to make them.

Ship Papers
Ship papers represent whatever ship(s) you own. You can either buy or board new ships. They get completely repaired between battles (assuming they're not destroyed). Some have an escape pod which can save you if ship combat goes wrong. Of course, you will also need to get a new ship to be able to travel anywhere afterwards.

Except for the ships found in Ghost Space, all of the ship data can be found by talking to the officer on your ship who will let you access the ship database. This information is repeated below for convenience. To board a ship, you beam over from close range when they have 50 or fewer shields, then engage in combat on the enemy ship. There are a couple of special ships not listed in the DB that you can find listed below. Raiding ships and taking them over is probably the fastest way to make money in the game, if you can survive it, as ship papers sell for a ton of credits.

The weapons of each ship are different at each range and different ships have a different effective range. There are long range missiles, medium range lasers and short range cannons. Engineering skill powers up the lasers, while Tactical skill powers up the other two weapons.

Some ships are weak up close and strong far away or vice-versa, so be sure you're not fighting the other ships at a range where your ship is weak. I've left (SHIP PAPERS) out of the names below for brevity. You can have multiple ship papers, but you can only change ships at a faction HQ or by boarding another ship via quest or combat.

Finally, you can get officers to board your ship and replace the current officers. The Science officer boosts your chance to flee as well as the power of boosting shields, the Engineering officer boosts laser damage and your chance to disable their engines, while the Tactical officer boosts Missile & Cannon damage as well as your chance to board the other ship with Mechs.

Quest Items
There are a few items that don't fit anywhere else, but which I've included for the sake of completeness:
  • Vitutus glands come in small Vitutus gland small, medium Vitutus gland medium, and large Vitutus gland large versions and seem to be used for quests.
  • Ghost Medallions have no value and no known use.
  • The Airgapped Tablet Airgapped Tablet and the Abandoned Station Journal Tablet Abandoned Station Journal Tablet explain the game's plot when used.
  • Red Wormhole Matter Red Wormhole Matter allows travel through the red wormhole into 'Ghost' space. You can get this by delivering 1 TB Disks to the information office until you get the quest to retrieve it.
