The objective of this guide is to supply the starting stats and equipment of all companions in the game, as well as detail who dislikes whom and provide potential teams of companions that all get along.

Relationships and Teams
In Caribbean! there are twelve companions, and each of them dislikes two others. This makes for a complex web of instability that can tear apart your band of pirates. These dislikes are:

If we are building a team, we could narrow down our options by specifying some requirements. For instance, if we want to make sure we have at least the Herbalism, Surgery, Navigation, and Path-finding skills covered by a team member (HSNP if we are going by the skill codes mentioned earlier), our options are narrowed down to:

Calculating these teams
In order to calculate these teams, I wrote a python script, available here[github.com]. It requires Python 3 to run, Python 2 will not work.
If you want to use this script yourself, but do not have (or do not know how to run) Python 3, the first chapter of this[inventwithpython.com] is one of many guides that can help you install an easy program with which to run it.
Character Data
The starting stats and equipment for each of the companions. This is based off of version 1.051. This is what was used to form the skill codes (such as Father Gober having tpHSE), so note that the skill codes are my interpretation of the data.

I just wanted to add - I did all this with play testing and I quardrupled checked everything but still feel like I may have made a stupid human error.

I think there are only 2 groups of 6 you can have and with 5 or less companions there must certainly be many more options than listed above, I'm fairly certain. But the 2 groups of six I came up with are as follows:

(Alonso dislikes Patrick Gordan but likes VanHouten)

Chibchan, Francois, John Kirk, Juba, Lamore, VanHouten
(Juba dislikes VanHouten but likes Chibchan, Lamore dislikes Francois but likes Chibchan, VanHouten dislikes John Kirk but likes Francois)

No, unfortunately I did not record that information.

@||__Crayola__||>, it has been almost a year and I have not played Blood and Gold enough to gether the necessary information. Most of the work involved is gathering the data. If you (or anybody else) is still interested an analogous report for Blood and Gold, I invite you to do the data gathering. That would make it very easy for me to adapt the script.

You could even download the script and modify it yourself if you are feeling adventurous. As long as it is still the case that each companion dislikes two other companions, you can just replace the string constants in the input and in the tests.

Do you happen to have recorded which companions LIKE one another? It can be used to offset the morale penalty of those who dislike one another.

Would you mind posting it in Blood and Gold as well? I think that would be a great idea :smile:
