The Easter Eggs of Camp Omega
By Nairdalex
While it's true that you can beat the game in an hour and a half or less it does not mean it all has to end there.
This guide will contain the easter eggs to be found in Ground Zeroes.

Introduction
As any and all Kojima fans know, a Metal Gear Solid game is bound to have all kinds of goodies in store for those who take the time to look for them.

And for a prologue, Ground Zeroes has more than I could have hoped for.

You can easily find most of these on your own but there may be a couple that you have not come across.
I figure if at least one of you finds something of any value it will have been worth it.

The guide will also include the correct answers for the quizes at the end of the Déjà Vu missions normal and hard mode.

Enjoy!

p.s. I did not plan on posting any screenshots or videos and I will not be doing so. Besides, that can take the fun out of it all anyways! :P

KOJIMA CAMEO
The Intel Operative Rescue Side Op features a VIP target that you must rescue. That target is none other than Hideo Kojima himself!

You even get a little hint of his cameo before you see him in the game. The opening cinematic begins with Snake examining a pair of glasses. A pair of J.F. Rey Eyewear glasses, Kojima's signature specs.

After completing the op you can find Kojima inside the helicopter menu where he will occasionally spin through the missions if you don't press anything for a few seconds.

CINEMATIC CAMERA CONTROL
Not much of a surprise here for all the veteran MGS players out there.

By holding R2 (with a ps3 controller) you can cause the camera to zoom in during cutscenes and moving the Right Analog Stick while doing so will move the camera itself.

UNLOCKABLE EXTRA OPS
There are 9 XOF Patches littered around the main Ground Zeroes mission. Collect them all in one playthrough to unlock the Déjà Vu and Jamais Vu Extra Ops. Must haves to get the most the game has to offer!

Are you Snake enough to find them all?

MGS1 SKINS
The Déjà Vu mission is an Extra Op that is practically a giant easter egg in it's own. You can unlock it by finding all 9 XOF Patches.

After completing the Déjà Vu Op by recreating all of the scenes you better be prepared to answer some questions you probably forgot 10 years ago! Because it's quiz time! see below for answers

If you answer all questions correctly you will unlock the skin of Solid Snake from MGS1.
Hard Mode will give you a new quiz at the end that is worth passing as you will unlock the skin of Frank Jaegar, the Cyborg Ninja, Grey Fox! Also, the enemy soldiers of Camp Omega will become the genome soldiers of Shadow Moses Island and snow will fall upon your Cuban battlefield!

JOHNNY SASAKI SR.
Déjà vu? What's that? Did I just hear somebody that seems to be suffering from chronic diarrhea? Johnny, is that you?!

In the Deja Vu mission, in one of the porta potties near the cells where you reunite with Chico in the Ground Zeroes mission, you will be reunited once again with an old friend. Or at least said friends father/uncle/distant relative.

METAL GEAR MUSIC
Metal Gear Solid games have always been known to have great music. And luckily for us there are a few tracks for us to find and enjoy in our in game iDroids!

To get the "Here's to You" song on your iDroid, find the cassette in the Ground Zeroes mission that's located in the cell adjacent to Chico's.

During the Dèjà Vu mission, there is a cassette tape located on top of a rock outside of the cave by the RV where you took Chico. (use your NVG if you have to) That tape has two tracks from past Metal Gear series games on it. "The Resurgence (ALERT!)" music from Metal Gear Solid and the "Theme of Tara" from the original Metal Gear for the MSX2.

During the Jamais Vu mission, there is a cassette tape found in the same spot as the Dèjà Vu op stated above that features "Ambush" from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and "Pleasure of Tension" from Snatcher.

Collecting all the cassette tapes in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will also grant you with another song. "Beyond the Bounds" from Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner on it.

METAL GEAR GAME LOGOS
Scattered across the Dèjà Vu mission map are many Metal Gear game logos that can be erased with the AM MRS-4 rifle... Just like David Hayter!

Erase them all and you will receive a codec call from an old nemesis known as Psycho Mantis.

You can find the rifle inside the Admin Building Armory but finding all the logos, well, that is entirely up to you Snake!

FOXDIE?!
When playing the Dèjà Vu op as classic Snake and returning to the cells that held Chico and Paz you will find the DARPA Chief and the Armstech President from MGS1. Locate both of them and let the FOXDIE virus play its course and watch as the virus tries to infect the Fox Engine itself!

MOAI STATUES
What MGS easter egg guide wouldn't include this?!

During the Intel Operative Rescue Side Op there are Moai statues spread throughout the base. One also appears in the Dèjà Vu mission. These statues are common Konami Easter eggs and have appeared since classic games like Gradius and the original Castlevania graced our rabbit-ear'd analog television screens.

"DON'T FIGHT IT"
Here's a reference that isn’t directly related to a Metal Gear Solid game in any way, but to Kiefer Sutherland and his portrayal of Jack Bauer from the Fox television series 24.

The first objective in Ground Zeroes gives Snake the task of locating and rescuing his captured comrade Chico. After finding him the game will enter a cutscene in which Snake tries to quiet the traumatized and frightened captive. Due to all the noise he makes out of fear and panic, Snake is left with no choice but to force him into unconsciousness with his bare hands.
As Chico slips away to wonderland, Snake whispers, “Don’t fight it”. Which is a common phrase spoken by Jack Bauer in similar situations on 24.

POST CREDITS SCENE...
Another, duh-I-already-know-that-dude egg for your easter basket.

As is tradition for Metal Gear Solid games, you get an extra scene for sticking around after the ending credits. Part of a conversation between Paz and Skull Face that will leave you hanging on the edge of that cliff directly behind the insertion point of Ground Zeroes until The Phantom Pain releases.

SINGING PAZ
This one is probably my favorite, next to the old school skins of course, so I saved it for last.

Rescue Chico first, take him to the RV point and set him down, being sure to trigger the cutscene which wakes him up and gets him talking. But do not put him on the chopper!
Then, rescue Paz and bring her to Chico. A cutscene will follow. After that, pick one of them up and set them down next to the other. Chico will lie down next to Paz and begin to apologize to her. Paz will start to hum various tunes from the game.

(I have heard of this happening if you were to take Chico to where Paz is being held but I have yet to do it myself that way)

The Eggs of Omega Conclude...?
These are only the easter eggs that I have found in my time in Ground Zeroes. Whether I have found them on my own or I have been guided to find them, these are what I have collected for this guide thus far.

Being an official Kojima Metal Gear Solid game there are high chances that there may be many more.
If you know of any others that are worth mentioning please, by all means, let me know about them!

This is my first guide and I hope you had as much fun reading it as I did creating it!

Kojima is god.
Metal Gear is life.

I literally just finished playing Metal Gear Solid and downloaded MGS5 and Ground Zeroes. These questions couldn't be more perfect.

Never thought of putting Paz and Chico together to see what would happen. Pretty sad final moment together.
Btw, I never got a cutscene when they're together nor in any gameplay vids.

There are 2 Kojima Productions logos in the Deja Vu op. If you shine a certain spotlight with the wolf logo on it on them, it triggers a cutscene.

When talking about singing paz you said "Then, rescue Paz and bring her to Chico. A cutscene will follow". I did this but no cutscene happened. How do you trigger it and what happens in the cutscene?

No problem! Look forward to some guides for TPP!

I'd say it's worth another quick playthrough to see it.

I'm glad you found it helpful.
Thanks for checking it out!
