In this guide I'm going to show you how to install I W 4 X Mod client.
With this client you are safer to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, you gain the ability to unlock, you can level up in multiplayer while playing against bots, can level up and progress (level, camo, ect.) offline/disconnected from the internet.

Go to ''i w 4 x.io'' (minus spaces between the letters, Steam sees the word I W 4 X without as profanity. Or use the video guide with the links in there) and click download, this will bring you to a new page where we have to scroll down till we see an option to download Windows/Linux.
Download the Launcher for your platform.
Now open your root folder for Modern Warfare 2, you can easily do it by going to your Steam library.
Right click on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, click browse files.
This will open the root folder for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, simply drag the 4X launcher to your root folder and run it.
First time it will download a bunch of files and update the game.
Now we use the 4X launcher to start the game.

Go to https://www.moddb.com/mods/bot-warfare/downloads and download the latest version of botwarfare for MW2.
You have to unzip the file you just downloaded so make sure to have a program that can unpack/extract .zip files (WinRAR, 7zip, etc.)
Most modern PC/Laptops come with a program build in.

Then after you unzipped the file locate your MW2 install folder.
You can easily locate it by going to the game in steam and right clicking the game, manage and then browse local files or the cog on the right, properties, installed files, browse.
Open ''Move files to root of MW2 folder'' and move mods to root of MW2 folder.
The folder/file structure should look like ''MW2 game foldermodsmp_botsz_svr_bots.iwd''.

The mod is now installed, now run your game.
If you are a dedicated server, you will need to set the DVAR 'fs_game' to 'mods/mp_bots'
If you are not a dedicated server, open the ''Mods'' option from the main menu of the game and select 'mp_bots' and then 'Launch'.
The mod should be loaded.

You can open the menu by pressing the Action Slot 2 key (default '5').
You can navigate the options by pressing your movement keys (default WASD), and you can select options by pressing your jump key (default SPACE).
Pressing the menu button again closes menus.

To customize bot names.
Add a text file named ''bots'' to ''C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonCall of Duty Modern Warfare 2modsmp_bots''
Now in the Text file you can add names that the game will use in matches.
Each bot name is max 15 letters/numbers.
Unlimited names that are chosen each match.

To launch I W 4 X:
- Right click on the i w 4 x-launcher and make a shortcut.
- Right click the shortcut and click properties.
- Copy the Target line.
- Click on the COG symbol on Steam, click properties
- Paste the line in Launch options and add %command%
So it looks like: "C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonCall of Duty Modern Warfare 2i w 4 x-launcher.exe" %command%

Now when we launch Modern Warfare 2, it will launch I W 4 X.
Now to instantly launch Bot-warfare and make it compatible for offline:
- Open the ''launcher'' folder and open config.json file with notepad
Location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2\launcher

Replace the file contents and save it with:

Now we can use the I W 4 X + bot Warfare when we are disconnected and when we launch Modern Warfare 2 in Steam we launch I W 4 X + bot Warfare.
