In mycase the file I want is save1.dat.

Make a backup copy of your .dat file and store it somewhere safe. Just in case something goes wrong

Download the edited save file and place it back in its original folder. Make sure it has the same name and overwrite the existing file.

Now go back to the game, RELOAD the checkpoint and finish the game normally. Obviously, don't kill more animals.
Go to the heart of the storm and defeat the beast. If you have done everything correctly, the achievement should unlock when you use the flare gun in the epilogue.
