Onirism SWAG Guide; or, How to Sweat in a Kids Game
By hüligan
A short guide with some cool tips, tricks, and techniques I've discovered in my time playing. Some of these are glitches and could be subject to change/removal.

I'll continue to add to this guide as I discover more swag. Don't be afraid to comment any of the useful techniques or glitches you've discovered. I'll add them to the guide and credit you!

Abusing Reload Cancelling
In your time playing the game, you've probably ran across a few weapons with limited magazines. You may have also noticed that when you stop aiming with said weapons they'll reload on their own and play an animation when doing so.

If you aim again while auto-reloading it cancels the animation, but still fully refills your weapon. Even if you un-aim and re-aim for a few milliseconds, it'll still work.

This will massively raise your damage output and make sure you're never caught off guard while reloading.
Banking the ZL9's Charge
The ZL9 Lasergun is an incredible weapon with one major flaw: It has a unique charge-up mechanic where it's fire rate starts off at a glacial pace and takes a good while to ramp-up to a ridiculous speed. The big issue is when you stop firing and switch off it, the charge dissipates and you're forced to build it back up again.

While there is no way to speed up the charge, you can retain it by switching weapons when still holding down the fire button. Then, when you switch back to it while still holding the fire button, the gun will still be at whatever charge level you left it at.

You can use this to combo a boss/mini-boss with the ZL9 and an explosive/flame weapon. It's also great if you're trying to tame a horde, but some stragglers get a little too close for comfort and you need to use something closer range to take care of 'em.
Firecrackers Manual Detonation
Not a lot of players know this, but you can manually detonate the Firecrackers gadget by shooting it. This lets you bypass it's long fuse time.

Since there's no explosion self-damage in Story/Tales mode and you'll throw it directly into your line of fire, you can use this as a great desperation tool if any enemies get too close. Just keep shooting (preferably with an automatic gun) and toss it. It'll explode right in your face and deal a big chunk of damage to your foe. Explosions will deal self-damage in PvP modes, so this quirk will be something to avoid rather than abuse when playing those.

You can also use the manual detonation to deny space by setting up a psuedo booby trap. If an enemy walks near it before it goes off naturally, trigger it yourself.
Elixir Spamming
This one's real simple: Just spam the elixir button. It'll make you chug the elixir multiple times. It won't cause the effects of the elixir to stack, but it will reset the duration of it's effects with every chug.

This trick is really only useful with the healing elixir since it gives you a small bit of health everytime you take a swig.

Corrected that, thanks!
I should probably give those modes a go, huh?

"Since there's no explosion self-damage in Onirism"
Only true in story/tales. You can hurt yourself in vs. multiplayer.
