Introduction
Quick guide for unlocking every achievement in KOF98UMFE. Luckily they are pretty easy this time around and can be completed easily by an average player. You won't need to complete challenge mode or etc. to get 100%. You can even get most single player achievements in less than an hour.
Preparations
All of the arcade achievements can be unlocked easily by editing the game settings:
  • Set difficulty to the easiest setting.
  • Set Player 1 defense level to 8 and Player 2 to 1.
  • Set Player 1 power gauge to MAX.
This should make getting the achievements a breeze. MAX power gauge lets you spam super moves and easiest difficulty makes the CPU very passive.

As Orochi is instantly available, you can just pick him and spam his "Encompassing Chaos" Desperation move. It will hit the opponent anywhere on the screen and will do truckloads of damage even when blocked. The move is performed by doing 2 quarter circles forward and pressing punch. Pressing both punches will do a more powerful version.

Other good characters are Takuma, Robert, Ryo and Yuri. All of them have a projectile desperation move "Haohshokoken" which is performed by pressing forward and then doing a half circle forward and pressing punch.

Single Player

Untouchable
Achieve straight win (Arcade Play Only)

Straight win means you will have to defeat the whole enemy team with single character. This shouldn't be too hard when using Orochi.

Perfect Match
Pass level perfectly in one round (without injury) (Arcade/Single Play Only)

This one is a bit trickier, but not that hard. Win a round without taking any damage. Just keep your distance and remember that getting hit even when you block takes away bit of your health.

Uncontrollable
Iori(Ura) or Leona(Ura) appear as CPU (Arcade/Single Play Only).

To fight Orochi Leona or Orochi Iori you will need to have between 6 and 9 Super Finishers (K.O. the opponent with a Desperation or Super Desperation Move) and you can't lose a single round before the 4th match. If you get too many Super Finishers, you will fight Rugal instead (no achievement).

Easiest way to get this achievement is in Single Play, as you will have exactly 6 rounds before the 4th match. Just finish of all of them with a Desperation Move and you will fight Iori. You don't need to beat him in order to get this achievement.

Champion
Finish the game (can continue) (Arcade/Single Play Only).

You have infinite continues, so completing the game is just a matter of time really. Orochi is king.

The King of Fighters
Finish the game (can't lose one round, can't continue) (Arcade/Single Play Only).

This is a harder version of Champion. Same strategies apply to this one. Spam supers and you will win easily. This is actually easier in the Steam version as you already have Orochi unlocked.

Score Hunter
Highest point exceeds 300 thousand (Arcade/Single Play Only).

You will get this automatically during The King of Fighters achievement.

Assist Attack
Perform an assist attack (Arcade Play Only).

Normally this achievement would be nearly impossible and could be only completed when all the planets align. However, you can get it easily with two players (or playing as both players by yourself).

Set both players Power Gauge in the settings and go to arcade mode. Pick any characters and then press start on Player 2's controller during a match. This will turn the game into a P1 versus P2. Choose Ryo Sakazaki for Player 2.

In match walk both characters to the left side of the screen and use Ryo's Super Desperation move "Heaven Glaze Punch". It is performed by doing two quarter circles forward and pressing both buttons. It will stun the enemy on hit.

Assist attack is performed by pressing LP+LK+SP (you can map this to a single button in options) when stunned (making this impossible otherwise as CPU never stuns you) and near your own teammates. If your teammates are knocked out, they can't help you.

Multiplayer

5 Continuous Wins
Achieve 5 straight wins in online fight.

10 Continuous Wins
Achieve 10 straight wins in online fight.

These two can be come easily or they can be really hard depending on your opponent's skills. However unlike the XBLA version, these achievements can be earned in player matches. If you find these hard to get just ask a friend to lose against you 10 times in a row.

Rookie
Achieve 10 wins in online fight.

Professional
Achieve 50 wins in online fight.

The King
Achieve 100 wins in online fight.

These achievements are just to be grinded. You will get them eventually. Again, you can get these from player matches.

Ryo didn't stun the opponent with the Punch Skill.
Does it only work if the opponent is low on health?
