To get Exo Chips you have to find exo caches. These can be found on all the planets and moons, you can find these Caches with the compass, (press R for the action wheel then select compass). If you are within range with your compass you should see a green icon. Follow this to the cache and once you've found it you can open the cache with dynamite and you will recieve 1-3 exo chips.
