I made a runway and timed how long it took to cross a hundred tiles many times over because I wanted to know the relative speeds of all the methods of getting around. I thought I'd share that with the community.

Explanation of the Numbers
I calculated running speed to be about 272.60 tiles/min. If I then calculate Running Speed with the +1 Speed Buff to be about 287.56 tiles/min, I just take that number and divide it by running speed to get about 1.05x, or 5% faster than default running speed.

Similarly Swimming speed is about 90.75 tiles per minute. Divide that by running speed to determine that Swimming speed is about 0.33x, or 33% of running speed.

I'm a fallible human being so the numbers may be just a tiny bit off. This is most apparent in the Jet Ski which is probably programmed to be twice running speed, but I calculated 1.99x on average.

Buffs
Speed and Swimming buffs do not (individually) stack with themselves. The highest level of buff takes priority. For more about buffs, check out my Food Buffs steam guide.
Running
There are no methods of acquiring the lvl-2 Speed Buff, so it isn't included.

Swimming
I specifically tested swimming on the surface.

I've included the comparisons to swim speed in addition to the standard running speed.

Diving Helmet
The Diving Helmet allows you to run on the sea floor. Oddly, swimming and running speed buffs both affect this.

I've included comparisons to swim speed and the basic diving helmet speed in addition to the standard running speed.

Gliders
There are two categories of gliders. The Basic and the Advanced.

All of the basic gliders have color prefixes (Blue Hang Glider, Red Hang Glider, etc), while all of the advanced gliders have fancier prefixes (Butter Glider, Galaxy Glider, etc) EXCEPT for the Glowing Glider, which behaves like a basic.

Basic gliders lose vertical height faster than advanced gliders. As for speed relative to the ground, the tested times are so close I'd say they're within the margin of error and effectively identical.
