Here's what I did to make the magic happen:
Installed UAKM on my SD and on my PC
Followed this guide to install the patch (version 1.0) and tweak the config file on my PC
Copied tex3mod.exe and dosbox_texmurphy3_launch_windows.conf to the correct folders on my SD overwriting the original .conf file
Launched the game on the SD and lowered the in-game mouse sensitivity. Now I can finally control the game like a modern FPS when in Interactive Mode. Was on the cusp of getting used to the original controls after 30 odd years but this is still a much better option.
