How to get the sound working for Balan Wonderworld with Proton in a Linux environment.

ATTENTION: This is only of interest for you if the sound is configured/working on your machine in general with other applications/games. It won't help you setting up your global local sound-configuration. So take care to install needed libraries beforehand!

General information
There are 2 ways/environments you can use to start Steam on Linux:
1. Steam Runtime which is using the libraries provided by Valve
=> executable is mostly called
steam-runtime
2. Steam Native which is using the libraries of your specific Linux distribution
=> executable is mostly called
steam-native
steam-native fixes no-sound issue
Most of the time Steam Runtime should be the more stable and unified environment but it seems that Balan Wonderworld is incompatible with the Runtime environment when it is about the ingame sound, so try the Native environment of Steam and the sound should work as a charm!

(Shouldn't be of interest, but: Tested with Proton version 7.0-6 and 9.0-4.)
