This mod is a vanilla-friendly expansion of the lactation feature from Biotech.

An overview of the content added by this mod

The amount of milk extracted, nutrition wise, is proportional with base Biotech balance. It also scales with body size.



Broodmother does not work on men by default but this can be changed in the mod's settings.

Additional mod integrations
Alongside full integration with Biotech, the Lactation Expansion also has built-in integrations with some other mods.
  • Vanilla Cooking Expanded
Breast milk can be used to make a new kind of cheese.
  • Alpha Crafts
Most dairy products can now be made with breast milk.
  • Geneva Checklist
Milking prisoners counts as a war crime.

I'm open to suggestions on more mod integration content.

@Ros[É] yeah but a pawn already needs to be milked multiple times a day, raising it any more would mean a pawn wouldn't be able to get anything done as they'd constantly be either milking themselves or hauling their milk to storage

is there a way to make lactating pawns produce milk faster, rather than just doubling yield?

my initial reaction seeing this was judgemental. i am pleasantly suprised. this is just... breast milk.

@Dskecht that's the vanilla speed, actually and I don't really want to slow down milk regeneration speed because the vanilla hediff is balanced around just nursing 2-3 babies and any less would only good for 1-2, I feel like

I have a few suggestions: it would be good to include the option to reduce milk production time, as the current one is too fast; in less than two hours of gameplay, the colonies reach 100%. Also, if you have the auto-milking option, the storage fills up quickly, even with babies and the milk being used for food preparation. And I'm referring to pregnancy-induced lactation.

Alternatively, the auto-milking mechanism could be changed. Instead of triggering at a specific level, it could activate to relieve pain, upon reaching 100%, and after a set amount of time has passed. This would add a bit more realism.
