Game patch for missing collectibles and incorrect languages
By Black Heretic
This (unofficial) patch fixes the bugs that prevent powercells and keys from being collected and counted correctly for achievements. It also fixes a bug that prevents IT/ES/NL/PT languages from loading correctly at startup.

1. Introduction
If you've been trying to complete PONCHO, you probably failed to unlock the "Collect 'Em all" achievement. Well, that's not your fault, because the game has always been plagued by an annoying issue related to collectibles: in particular, around 60 powercells cannot be collected properly, which makes the "Collect 'Em all" achievement broken. It's been a long time since the last update to the game and at this point it's unlikely there will be any more in the future, so I've created this unofficial patch to fix the aforementioned issue, and finally make the achievement unlockable properly. As a bonus fix, I've also fixed a small issue that caused IT/ES/NL/PT languages to load incorrectly when starting the game.
2. What changes
Here is a quick summary of what changes in the patched game, compared to the latest official release:
  • All 699 powercells are present and can be collected. Therefore, the "Collect 'Em All" achievement can be unlocked.
  • The stage selection node for stage 4 shows the "rogue" green key present in it, and this key counts towards the achievement (so there are 17 keys to collect in total).
  • Powercells and keys outside of regular levels (e.g. prologue) no longer count towards the "Collect 'Em All" achievement, as intended by the devs;
  • IT/ES/NL/PT languages are correctly loaded at the start of the game.
3. How to install
The patch is currently hosted on PCGamingWiki, you can find it here[community.pcgamingwiki.com]. I strongly advise you to download files only from the dedicated PCGW page and to ignore files from other sources, as I cannot guarantee their safety.

To install the patch, just copy the patched files to the corresponding location inside the game installation folder, you can access it from the Steam client too: right-click the game name -> Manage -> Browse local files.

The files to replace are these:
  • some specific levelX (where X is a number) files in the Poncho_Data folder;
  • the Assembly-CSharp.dll file in the Poncho_Data -> Managed folder.

You can copy-paste each file manually, or you can copy-paste the Poncho_Data folder directly from the patch folder to the game installation folder, and it should replace all corresponding files one by one (confirm the replacement for each file, if the related window appears).

To be on the safe side, I recommend making a backup of the original files first (that is, copy-paste them somewhere else on your PC), so you can quickly restore them in case of unexpected issues.

Also, because of the way the patch works, I strongly recommend exporting the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Delve Interactive\Poncho, which contains the save data for the game. You can do it by using the Windows Registry Editor, here are some quick instructions for those who are unfamiliar with the program:
  1. Open the Windows Registry Editor or regedit.exe (the program is present in all Windows systems).
  2. Copy-paste the string "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Delve Interactive\Poncho" into the address bar.
  3. In the left pane, the Poncho folder should be visible. Right-click on it and select Export.
This way, you can preserve the original pre-patch save data, and you'll be able to easily restore it in the future just by deleting the aforementioned Poncho folder from the registry (right-click on the folder -> Delete) and double-clicking on the backup file.
4. How to use
The patch can be used for both new and ongoing games, but there are some differences:
  • Starting a new game allows you to track all collectibles with certainty (and collect them all, of course), so it is the best way to take advantage of the patch.

  • For games already in progress, the patch restores a good portion of the unavailable powercells, but it is still not able to do so with 100% accuracy, due to the nature of the bug in the original version of the game. For example, in some cases it may even happen to end up with more powercells than the maximum allowed in a stage. For this reason, my advice for ongoing games is to play the stages in reverse order (i.e. from the last to the first), and just collect new powercells until the "Collect 'Em All" achievement unlocks.
I tested the patch myself with a dedicated playthrough and encountered no issues. However, for obvious reasons, I cannot guarantee that the same will apply to everyone.

@limathompson: You're welcome, I agree that it's not nice when there are bugged achievements in a game, luckily this time I managed to fix it.
