Things I wish I had known before finishing my playthrough ...
By pecan
This guide captures game play and game progression aspects that I wish I had know during my run. The guide aims to capture those "gotchas" that annoyed me, such as blocked progression until after completing certain aspects of the main quest line, quests that could become incomplete-able, and other mechanics that were not well balanced and affected your party's progression through the game.

Overall, I like Might & Magic X: Legacy -- my goal is to help improve one's play experience, particularly given how much I love the earlier Might and Magic games.

While I can't promise I'll make frequent (or any) updates, I'll do my best based on contributions from others via the comments section.

Happy Adventuring!

Gameplay
Here are game[play tips and information I wish I had known when first starting MMX: Legacy ...

  • Early on, gold feels like a scarce commodity, however it becomes quite plentiful starting in Act 2 & 3, so feel free to buy potions, scrolls, and equipment to make your playthrough easier / faster. (I ended one run with just under 1 million gold.)
  • You can use the obelisks to travel using the appropriate region's name
  • If you use melee attacks, pay attention to monster blocks and how to get around them
  • Use Tab to cycle through enemies in a group.
  • You can rebind the main attack, shoot, defend, and potion keybindings easily to make more spell / skill options easily accessible.
  • Set your primary action for each character to the same number key on their toolbar to rapidly execute a sequence of actions.
  • Set your frequently cast exploration spells to the same number key on the toolbar across multiple characters to rapidly "buff up" as needed.
  • Accessing secret areas and complete a few tasks such as disarming traps are based upon the selected character's attributes, specifically Might, Magic, & Perception depending on the task -- make sure you use the character with the highest ability for the appropriate area / task.
  • There are certain shrines that can only be interacted with on the appropriate day - if you can find and interact with them at that time, it'll reduce backtracking.
  • You get Relics from Mysterious Tombs, encounters in Dangerous Caves and boss fights. Relics are "upgraded" by gaining experience while using them. You can get access to end-game power items earlier by finding and leveling relics.
  • Many regions have a Restore fountain that will return all HP & spell points - consider finding them first and then exploring close-by locations from that point.
  • Many regions have a Ward appropriate to the damage done by creatures in that area -- consider finding them first and exploring close-by locations from that point.
  • Naga Statues / shrines remove buffs, so only use them when you've got debuffs applied (and avoid them when you have long term buffs up).
  • You can't get past glowing green vine-like tiles until you get a particular Blessing (Sylanna).
  • You can't cross water until you get a particular Blessing (Shalassa).
  • You can't interact with the cyclone-looking areas until you get a particular Blessing (Ylath).
  • You can access areas with enemies well above your power level -- consider exploring elsewhere until you gain enough levels to take them more easily.
  • You can get skills to Grandmaster level for 2-4 skills, depending on how narrowly you specialize, the 3rd or 4th won't be until pretty late game -- keep this in mind when planning your character leveling.

Spells
Light Magic
- Extremely useful at preventing damage for one or more rounds -- unless your Light Magic caster has offensive capabilities, you'll want to always keep this spell up during combat.

Receding Horizons
This quest can become incomplete-able if you have the related NPC (Edwin) as one of your hirelings and you complete Act 4. Just remember to turn in this quest before going past the "point of no return", specifically getting on Crag Hack's ship to go rescue his granddaughter.
