Before starting your trials with the lost you should fill up your donation Machine since 999 coins in there unlocks the "stopwatch", wich is broken in comparsion to the "broken stopwatch" wich is balanced.... funny isnt it?

I was at the point where i missed 200 coins for 999 and worked my way up pretty fast by creating a simple farmsystem.

I have never created a guide so i thought why not help fellow Issaceers to reach this goal as fast as i did.

I know this is exploiting the system but to be honest as much as i love edmund and his game and design ideas, i didnt like the idea of the donaton machine so thats that. No one forces you to grind it.

Also this guide may contain spoilers so dont go on if you are afraid of spoiling the game for you.

The obvious Character of choice for this is Azazel.

If you havent unlocked him yet, youll get him by making three deals with the devil in one single run.

The reason you should pick him over the others are as followed:

-no need for damage ups to reach mom (wich is as far as it maximal gets)
-can clear large rooms by sacrificing one of his three black hearts
-has flying from the beginning wich lets him pick up almost every pickup you´ll enounter
-can clear most rooms in 2-3 basic blasts (~around 5-10 secs max per room)
-can kill almost all bosses without getting hit at a fast pace
-starts with the fool card which is very helpful for opening arena chests, looting and then porting out

after all, this guide is about speedfarming, we want it fast, not pretty

This is the core of the guide and filled with my own experiences during the runs.
It might has some improvements but if you hold yourself to this guide you can make improvements that fit your playstyle. So take this as major guidelines that still can be improved.

The pick-ups:

Pills:
Can usually always be taken. Almost all pill effects are either positive for your run or negligible enough to ignore them.

-health downs will be health ups wiht just one heart
-r u a wizard doesnt affect azazel
-tear down is negligible
etc...
You can always just ignore them but if youd like to take em take em immediately and pick up your fool card again. Its litterally money!

Keys:
We only use keys to open stores and chests. Azazel doesnt need any items from the itemroom especially since we mostly wont go deeper then caves 1.
Thumbrule: If you have 6 coins open the shop and blow everything in the Donation machine. Chances are high that they will clog at a very low amount of coins so no reason to hog em.
If you have spare keys you can use them for chests or double locked rooms. But be sure to always have one key left to open the store on the next stage.

Bombs:
We use bombs for the following things sorted by priority:
-low on health/keys -> blow up tinted rocks
-many bombs -> blow up some pottys to get some sidemoney
-few bombs -> save them for secret rooms, remember to blow up the corpses for money
-no bombs -> means we have more money/keys on us, thats cool

Money:
Goes in the donation machine and no where else. We wont go deep so we dont need any pickups or itemdrops.
Only exception to this rule is opening an arcade when you have at least two or more bombs to blow up arcades and beggars. (keep the blood donation machine to go all out)

Trinkets:
Awesome trinkets for this are counterfeit penny, swallowed penny and petriefied poop. If you see them take em.


First floor:

Our mayor goal here is to get pickups. Go in a straight line and grab everything you can.
Dont go sideways or backtrack as it will waste to much time. Head straight for the bossroom, if an itemroom opens on the route it doesnt hurt to go in but looking for it is wasted time.
Smack the boss and descent to the second floor. By now it would be good to have one key and 1-2 coins but isnt mandatory. Do not look for secret rooms as they are most of the time in strange places on the first floor. Keep your bombs for the second one.

Second and upcoming floors:

This is where it ends most of the time due to a trolling donation machine.
You goal is to get a key head to the store and throw in whatever you have. When you threw in everything and still haven´t clogged it reveal the entire map and look for the secret room with available bombs. Throw in the money gathered from the entire second floor. If it still works continue with these steps till its clogged on the next floors.
Dont go deeper then depths 2. Don´t defeat mom as itll take to much time and won´t get you anything. Theres only a small chance that there will be a donation machine after depths 2.

As soon as the donation machine is clogged hold R to restart, your progress will be automatically saved. Now rinse and repeat till you aquired 999.

Special Tips and Tricks:

The Fool:
You start with this tarot card and its very useful for our farming: If you see an arena room with at least 2-3 Grey chests go in, open them and then teleport out with the card. Youcan skip 30 seconds of fighting for a nice amount of pickups. You wont see many arena rooms most of the time so just use it and dont hold it back.

Black Hearts:
We start with black hearts so lets use them. Most big rooms take much time, if you think you can go through the basement without getting hit (wich you should) just sacrifice one of your black hearts to clear an entire big room, it saves much time and additional life can be get by blowing tinted rocks anyway.

Blood Donation machines:
Most of the time its good enough to blow all your spare life into the machine, take the money and donate it. Make sure you already fought your way to the shop to not die on the way. Restart after this even if the machine isn´t clogged to avoid unnecessary deaths.
