Fuel
Fuel plays god in this game. Fuel decides whether you can continue on your journey, or if you must stop in the middle of the road and wait for some taveler to come buy and take all your items for one can. Fuel would always ruin me when I was doing great. I would be worried about my food or wondering if I had enough ammo for scavenging when suddenly the car would stop and I was screwed. This is why it is to get fuel early on after the intro. For easy I would reccomend getting 3 bars worth of fuel, 3 again for normal, 2 for difficult, and 2 again for suicide.

If you choose not to do this, I highly reccomend that you buy the Solar Panel from the Auto shop. The solar panel allows you to slowly move forward when you have no gas. The upgrade that makes it so that no gas is lost from anything other than moving forward is good but it takes up the same place as the solar panel. I would buy whichever one you see first but the solar panel is much more useful.

To conserve gas I would always move at a slow pace. This being the default pace, you do not have to worry about changing it. At this pace you will chew up .25 gas every hour, anything past that is not worth going a little bit faster unless you are close to the end and have a respectable ammount of gas.
But always keep your eyes on your supply, unless you enjoy staring at tade screens with no offers.

Summary: Get alot of fuel at the beggining and buy a solar panel.
Food & Scavenging
Food is the most hilariously fixable problem in this game. It is so easy to obtain it that I earn most of my profit in the game by selling food. Scavenging is a quick and easy way to earn it. Scavenging lets you obtain so much food that it is almost over-powered. Many people beleive that you have to kill every zombie that approaches you, but to conserve ammo you could just gather them up into a large group and let the chase you. You may need to shoot some that are directly infront of you, but one bullet is worth your life. Choosing when to scavenge is important, sometimes you may want to stop and scavenge on the road when the zombie activity is low which is a great way to earn money and food.

I have never changed my rationing even when I had a huge ammount of food and never ran into any problems because of it, so I would not worry about this section. You may need about 50-150 bullets just incase you run into trouble while scavenging or you need to defend your car from zombies.

Summay: Scavenging is an easy way to earn food.
Health (For Party and Station Wagon)
Health can be easy or extremely difficult to keep at a safe level for both your party and you car. Sleeping is a great way to restore health as long as you have enough food from scavenging. But both the leader and the car have their own ways of restoring health. Medkits should only be used for the leader since their health can not be restored with resting. Scrap is also needed for repairing your car. You should not buy service from people at the auto-shop unless you have more money than you do scrap. But there are easy ways to earn this scrap so it should never happen. You should use 6 scrap to fix the car, it will most likely end in succsess.

Never, oh god please NEVER kill a party member (Unless it's Clements because he sucks). If they are bitten by a zombie just watch their health, if they run out of health they will turn into a zombie and attack you. Killing a party member is the biggest waste of human resources possible. Humans are very important for the last part of the game. I won't give anything away but the more people you have the better.

Also, for bosses such as the zombie-deer chase and the biker gang, stay in the middle of the street so it is easier to escape/ram in either direction. Car parts are not important, only get 2 at the begining.

Summary: Maintain alot of food and scrap. Don't kill party members. Stay in the middle of the road. One car part for each section is needed at all times.

loot when activity is low and trade when activity is high, you end up rich with a little luck
