TLDR;
  • Just give me ONE BEST build
    >> #13 The Gnarlic Runner

  • But my progression haven't reach there yet
    >> #03 Floracrane Set

  • Yeah, but I don't like those
    >> #08 Funguile Set or #16 Healing Spinner
#01 Heavy Focus Melee
★★★★
Personal favorite, was going to call this something like "Golf Swing Nuke Master Number One Best Build"...

Anyway...
  • Golf Swing is all you need to learn and master
  • It has matching Focus Damage Gem x2 and the Peak Performance talent will also increase Focus Hit damage, which could dish out a lot of damage

Suggested Talent Nodes:
  • Swiftness at 20% movement speed (optional)

  • Breath of Life at 50 heal (optional) will cost 10 shards in total, good replacement for Gourdo Elasti-Shorts
  • Breath of Life at 100 heal will cost 54 shards in total to completely negate Quetzi Waist Guard damage; but too expensive

  • Peak Performance at 25% Focus Hit damage, could add more (important)

  • Exit Strategy at 30% dodge speed (optional)

Concentrated Gem + Quetzi Waist Guard
Concentrated Gem alone is vital for survival even if the slot does not match, plus for healing back damage taken from Quetzi Waist Guard

Alternatives:
Very useful even for late game, although Phasing Gem has the same effect, but you do not need to replace Concentrated Gem by using this leg.

Good early alternative for healing

Equivalent to 14 shards on Talent, or early alternative before unlocking the Talent.

Not great but nice for adjusting dodge to your preference.

Applicable for Barbed Pike, especially if you can hit the Multi-thrust combo
#02 Heavy Focus Range
★★★
  • Hail of Gory has no fall down animation penalty when using Mortar Shot, even when fully loaded
  • For other Cannon weapon, the fall down animation is obvious when fully loaded.
  • Although Focus Damage deals more damage but Heavy Damage is recommended for gems because Mortar Shot is 100% Heavy Damage and only remaining 50% ammo is Focus Damage. Also, Cannon's dodge is also Heavy Attack.

#03 Floracrane Set
★★★
Unlocking these weapons and equipments are probably the first important milestone on early game progression
  • Skill spamming is fun and dodge cancel upon landing is the key for mastering this build.
  • However, the Skill has been significantly nerfed in past patch and you need to be careful of where you are landing.
  • Generally, Striker (the ball weapon) and Bow has higher skill damage than other counterparts (Hammer / Spear / Cannon) with the same skill.
The Bow counterpart
#04 X-Diver
★★★★
Another personal favorite after min-maxing from Floracrane Set.
  • Unlike Floracrane Set, this build is a Balance Class
  • This build deals more consistent damage, approx 29% more damage than Floracrane Set as this one does not rely on critical hit chance
  • Remember to change direction to benefit from Bonejaw Jawbelt

Acid Diver
  • Alternative variant using Acid Pool to help generate Hit Streak
  • Gloop Slimekilt is convenient for very fast dodge
#05 Skill Crit
★★★
For this Boss Weapon, it requires killing Mother Treek with Proto-Striker
  • Allow you to spam Skill at relatively safe distance away from enemies
  • Applicable for its Bow counterpart but I recommend Striker to be unlocked first
  • For its Spear counterpart, you can spam Skill button during Multi-trust to trigger multiple on-hit effect, very cool technique but skill damage is 40% less due to weapon type.
  • Critical Chance Gems are optional but good to have

Shellshot Blunderbuss
Basically shotgun version using Cannon weapon
  • The skill reload Cannonball upon hitting enemy, standing in corner will allow you to chain indefinitely unless all shots missed.

Iriss Wrap is more useful for cannon player who can easily perfect dodge

Colossapphire Plate offers slightly more damage for cannon

Wollusk Hauberk will change this build from Agile Class into Balance Class
#06 Big Yammo Slammo
★★★
Originally, this build should work even without any gem.
  • Heal back is based on absorbed damage, which is bad if your current hp is low. So, using Bonejaw Head Cage should let you heal better.
  • Its better to invest in Vitality talent for this build
  • To guarantee heal back, avoid calling back Striker or having other damage source (i.e. Thorny Gem, Boarfrost Mantle, Retaliation, etc), otherwise your skill will miss on dead enemy.
  • Alternatively The Pulled Yamstring (Bow counterpart for Yammo weapon) is also a good choice

Suggested Talent Nodes:
  • Field Medicine at 2 (optional), good to have more

  • Vitality at 1500 max hp (important) or minimum 1000 max hp

  • Breath of Life at 50 heal (optional)

  • Peak Performance at 25% bonus (optional)

With Colossapphire Helmet, you can easily deal against mobs as they will be frozen when they hit you, but this is less effective against miniboss / boss (cannot be frozen)

Gourdo's Noggin-Padder is good early alternative in case not having Bonejaw Head Cage or Healing Gem

Meowl Cowl is very good for Critical Damage

Quetzi Waist Guard is alternative to power up and prepare for boss fight. Or, just invest more shards in Peak Performance talent for focus hit dmg, or boss slayer talent
#07 Funguile Set
★★★★
This equipment set is another important milestone on late game progression.
  • Great survivability and 10 revives, though I personally don't like the scattering Healing Pickup part but healing 40% damage is too good.
  • Compatible with Yammo weapon (see #06 Big Yammo Slammo) but you have be aware of the Explosive Funguile and time it
  • Compatible with #10 The Bam Bamboozle, but the Explosive Funguile triggers on nearby Hazard Idol yet deals no damage to the idol
  • For Stringer weapon, see #18 Lesser Funguile Stinger and #19 Greater Funguile Stinger
Alternatives:
With Colossapphire Helmet, fighting mobs are easier, frozen enemy allow you to go for Healing Pickup
Brightside Gem + Ribbat Surcoat
With Ribbat Surcoat, you can heal up to 60% of damage taken and using Brightside Gem will negate its Teffra cost. (see #16 Healing Spinner)
#08 Acid Healer
★★★★★
Be warned that this masochist build is very weird unique but it utilizes Acid Pool to grant unlimited healing.
  • Need Corrosive Gem for this build.
  • With Wollusk Helmet + Funguile Sailor Slacks, you heal 70% + 40%, which in theory could heal yourself back to full using Acid Pool (30 damage per tick).
  • As Healing Pickup may expire and disappear, you can take around 5 ticks from Acid Pool before going for the pickups.
  • The Swiftness talent and movement speed bonus will be useful.
  • With the weapon's passive, you deal damage when you heal over 10 hp, which you can simply focus on healing while letting the passive to deal damage. (plus Acid Pool damage)
  • For The Molded Grave zone, you can replace Wollusk Hauberk with other body part.
  • About the damage from the weapon's passive, it is the same for all its counterparts (i.e. Striker and Bow do not have higher damage), due to being triggered by passive and not directly from skill active. So, use the counterpart of weapon type that you preferred.
  • For Stinger weapon, see #18 Lesser Funguile Stinger and #19 Greater Funguile Stinger
  • Healing Gems are optional but significantly more effective.
Healing Gem Calculation
  • With no Healing Gem: heal for 70% + 40% = 21hp + 12hp = 33hp
    >> net +3 hp
  • With x1 Healing Gem γ: heal for 79.1% + 45.2% = 23.73 hp + 13.56 hp >> round up
    >> 24hp + 14hp = 38hp = net +8 hp
  • With x2 Healing Gem γ: heal for 88.2% + 50.4% = 26.46 hp + 15.12 hp >> round up
    >> 27hp + 16hp = 43hp = net +13 hp
Note: for the heal amount, the decimals will round up for both healing instances, which resulted the above amount.

For The Molded Grave zone (or playing with friend with Stinger weapon or Wollusk Hauberk body part in other zone), Ribbat Surcoat allow you to heal more and use the 20% healing to deal damage (via the weapon's passive).

See #16 Healing Spinner for more variants.
#09 Toadstomper
★★★
One Hit Wonder!
    Easy steps:
  1. Use Light Attack at the opposite direction once to prepare for Bonejaw Jawbelt, does not need to hit anything
  2. Use skill 5 times to charge up for 100% critical hit chance
  3. Dodge around and don't attack, try to clump up mobs together
  4. Use Golf Swing to kill the weakest mob for highest possible damage
  5. Rinse and repeat if any mob still alive
  • Destroying Environmental Object with critical hit will also trigger the Overkill Damage
  • Try not to damage any mob to keep them full health for Pristine Gem bonus damage (total +120%)
  • Strong against mobs but weak against miniboss and boss in Super Frenzy
  • Avoid choosing Power that deals damage on its own because of Pristine Gem. Alternatively, replace the gems with Critical Damage Gem instead (total +80%).
One of the weakness for this build is shielded enemy like Bulbug, so use this instead since Bulbin Longcoat is not the core component of this build.
#10 The Bam Bamboozle
★★★★★
At first, I was skeptical when I found this build, but after trying it out, its simplicity made it worked.
    Easy steps:
  1. use skill once to place Hazard Idol near enemy
  2. spam Light Attacks until Hazard Idol is destroyed, try to hit
  3. move to next enemy
  4. rinse and repeat
Also, you can abuse the heal to restore to full hp on each clearing.

Alternatives:
Replace Gourdo's Noggin-Padder for more critical damage, having Healing Gem will still let you to heal to full.

Gnarlic Head Stalk + Meowl Booties
With Gnarlic Head Stalk its a bit tricky:
  1. use skill once to place Hazard Idol slightly away from enemy but within your reach
  2. run into enemies first, then Hazard Idol, etc
  3. rinse and repeat
#11 Cult of the Bulbin
★★★
Classic old build that make use of heavyweight (Power Class)
  • The idea is to spam dodge and light attack to quickly hit multiple strikes
  • Basherball is best choice for its healing skill
Suggested Talent Nodes:
  • Swiftness is optional for Runspeed

  • Backup Plan is secondary, it reduces damage while dodging (outside of Perfect Dodge window)

  • Exit Strategy should be prioritized for Dodge Speed Bonus. Max at 54 shards for 50%. Faster dodging = faster attack.
Alternative
Good early alternative for more healing
Compatible but deal the same amount of damage. The landing explosion mechanic can keep itself looping to deal extra damage.
#12 Teffra Frostbite
★★★
Must... destroy... every... object...
  • Environmental Object can be destroyed by enemy
  • This build rely on having good Power and spending Teffra for upgrades or potions
  • With Frostbite, it has 2 sustain gem slots, which fits Pick-Me-Up Gem x2
  • Alternatively, Ribbat Wings can be used as replacement for Gambler's Gem
Pick-Me-Up Gem + Gambler's Gem
With Gambler's Gem or Ribbat Wings, if you are lucky, it can proc multiple times to earn triple or more from Teffra pickups, which pair well with Pick-Me-Up Gem for healing.
#13 The Gnarlic Runner
★★★★★
The most broken OP build!
  • Runspeed is the key for both avoid damage and dealing damage, which Runspeed related Power should be prioritized.
  • Bonejaw's Charge will trigger Gnarlic Head Stalk's attack while charging through enemies
  • With Bullrog Gauntlets, prioritize Encounter (combat room) as much as possible but DO NOT press dodge button at any time (safe to dodge at other rooms)
  • For additional bonus, farm the Squash and cook the food for the bonus +20% Runspeed
Suggested Talent Nodes:
Focus on Swiftness for more Runspeed. (cost 101 shards to reach 72%)
Alternatives
  • You can use ANY Proto-Weapon, which allow you to unlock all Boss Weapons by using this build
  • Proto-Weapon can equip any 3 gems to have their matching bonuses.
  • For obvious reason, Runspeed Gems are recommended (but I also have another set of gems for grinding materials or ingots)
  • If you did not get the Powers needed or having a bad run, simply abandon run to avoid breaking Proto-Weapon
Windbreaker is a good early alternative, you can use its Heavy Attack to Teleport to avoid dodging.
For Long Arm of the Claw, its Pole Vault timing is very different than dodge timing but its long attack range is good for reaching enemies that you cannot go near. (see #14 Long Arm of the Claw for its own build)

#14 Long Arm of the Claw
★★★★
This weapon is great but its long range might not be easy to adapt
  • Great Focus Hit damage, mainly spam its Light Attack (by tapping), or combo into Multi-trust, or hit multiple enemies with Spinning Drill
  • Pole Vault timing is very different than dodge timing, good for keeping distance for Focus Hit
  • For some reason, Boarfrost Headband has no effect for this weapon.
Alternatives
Good replacement for Runspeed Gem, in case you need the gem slot for other gem (i.e. 1 more Concentrated Gem)
Good early alternative for healing
More healing alternative
#15 Snarling Spear
★★★
Flashy and cool ninja build, probably better if backstab could work.
  • The Skill is very useful against single enemy and you can teleport far distance.
  • The Skill follow-up attacks are considered Heavy Attacks, which is why Heavy Gems are recommended
  • With Torchfly Goggles, Hit Streak can be spent for Spinner attack
Alternative
With Groak's Best, Heavy Attack has better Hitstun but this doesn't seem to be enough for backstab build.

Colossapphire Helmet + Boarfrost Mantle
More defensive variant that is very effective against mobs
#16 Healing Spinner
★★★★★
Another personal favorite with nice combinations: healing, damage and Power
  • Pike of Peril is good for starting up Hit Streak for Torchfly Goggles, otherwise other weapon counterparts are also compatible for this build.
  • With Ribbat Surcoat, when you take 50 damage or more, it will heal at least 10 hp and trigger the weapon's passive to deal damage.
  • Brightside Gem is vital to negate the Teffra cost of Ribbat Surcoat
#17 Mothball Set (WIP)
★★★
Not for solo player :(
#18 Lesser Funguile Stinger
★★★★
This is the intro / entry-level for acid-based loadouts
    Easy steps:
  1. use Skill to create Acid Pool
  2. stand on Acid Pool and take 30 damage per tick
  3. each tick will spawn an Explosive Funguile
  4. lure enemy to Explosive Funguile for easy kill
  • Can be used in ANY stage, you can change to other weapon for The Molded Grave.
  • With Snortoise Helmet, you take 0 acid damage when health is below 30% and this also spawn bigger Explosive Funguile (it deal more damage when your health is low).
  • With Wollusk Helmet and Funguile Sailor Slacks, you take 30 acid damage but heal for more and you can heal indefinitely (though the Healing Pickup scatters randomly).
Acid Healer Calculation
  • With no Healing Gem: heal for 70% + 40% = 21hp + 12hp = 33hp
  • With x1 Healing Gem γ: heal for 77% + 44% = 24hp + 14hp = 39hp
  • With x2 Healing Gem γ: heal for 84% + 48% = 26hp + 15hp = 41hp
Note: for the heal amount, the decimals will round up for both healing instance, which resulted extra healing. Hence, it is more efficient to use only one Healing Gem.

Note: see #08 Acid Healer for another variant
#19 Greater Funguile Stinger
★★★★★
Improved version of Lesser Funguile Stinger
  • need Acid Protection Gem γ x2 to complete this build, which reduces Acid Damage to zero
  • With Wollusk Aketon, you can reduce Acid Damage by 30% but it cannot reduce to zero, yet good enough if you are leveling up the gems
  • Gloop Slimekit is convenient for faster dodge into next Acid Pool
  • Bonejaw Head Cage and Quetzi Waist Guard is good combination to upgrade powers and preparing for boss fight.
  • Anyhow, you can change Helmet and Legs to whatever you want, except for Snortoise Boots
#20 Parry Funguile & Acid Slayer (Boss Weapon) (KIV)
★★★★★
I Parry Everything!
  • Applicable for its counterparts of other weapon type (that shared the same Skill)
  • For context below, Parry means successfully nullified an attack.
  • Parry will trigger Funguile Sailor Top's effect
  • Against enemy with range attack or keeping their distance, use Boarfrost Cloven Booties instead
  • Simply spam the Skill button, doing so considered as standing still for Colossapphire Greaves's effect
    Easy steps:
  1. spam the Skill button to Parry any incoming attack
  2. each Parry will spawn an Explosive Funguile
  3. dodge around to lure enemies to Explosive Funguile
  4. the low risk approach is to let Explosive Funguile deals damage for you
    Parry will not trigger:
  • Colossaphire Helmet (but still good as fail-safe)
  • Meowl Cowl
  • Bonejaw Breastplate
  • Boarfrost Mantle
  • Thorny Gem (or similar Power)

Acid Slayer (for The Molded Grave stage)
  • need Acid Protection Gem γ x2 (same idea as #19 Greater Funguile Stinger)
  • Acid can trigger Parry even if you take 0 damage from it (Note: won't trigger on Acid pool created by yourself using Wollusk Hauberk + Corrosive Gem)
  • stand on acid and take 0 damage per tick
  • each tick spawns an Explosive Funguile
  • spam Skill button to Parry and make Explosive Funguile deals critical damage
  • 100% fool proof on The Molded Grave, just speedrun and rush to boss room
Team Play: if you have friend using Wollusk Hauberk (see #05 Acid Diver) or Stinger that can create Acid Pool, this build would work on other stages but you have to replace the gem with Corrosive Gem (+ Acid Protection Gem γ x2)

KIV Note: tested Parry + Corrosive Gem works if the acid is created by other player.
#22 Sporeshot
★★★★
  • Very unique and fun cannon playstyle
  • For Zero Dodge build, see #13 The Gnarlic Runner but basically you cannot use Heavy Attack.
    Basic Focus Hit:
  1. use the Skill 5 times to place 5 Mines
  2. shoot any amount, then reload
  3. after reload, your will always have 5 Focus Hit shots and no damage penalty
    Mining
  • When enemy coming near previously placed Mines, simply reload and place all Mines at where you are
  • When exploding Mine hit any enemy, you gain 1 Cannonball
  • When near an enemy, spam Skill button, you should be able to mine indefinitely, especially against idle enemy.
    Shockwave
  • press Dodge button, then Light Attack button
  • If your clip is NOT empty AND you have placed any Mine, then you will always damage yourself when performing Shockwave
  • So, always empty the entire clip before Shockwave.
    Rocket Ride
  • press Dodge button, then Skill button
  • If you just reloaded OR your clip has MORE THAN 3 shots, then you will always damage yourself when performing Rocket Ride
  • So, shoot at least once and make sure the buff is 16% or above (see below)
Bonus Tips: see the buff % to check remaining shots in the clip.
