[MOD] Smoother Progression
By Doki
This mod alters the progression system in Corn Kidz 64 to help ease new players in, and adds minor Quality of Life features for all. This is primarily designed for first time playthroughs and anyone who got stuck in the original game. This mod aims to minimize having to look up things online in order to beat the base game any%.

WHAT IT DOES
This Mod:
  • Adjusts the XP requirements for level doors, making it so players are less likely to be blocked from main game progression early on. This also prevents people being permanently locked out of a certain secret area. (Getting 110% on the results screen still requires getting all XP and Screws)
  • Adds a way to track your completion status in the pause menu. After finishing the game normally, the pause screen now includes a counter for how many objects are left to collect in each level.
  • Adjusted some pig dialogue to make the route to the drill tower less obtuse.
  • Alters a painting in the tutorial area to visually help new players learn the ropes of wall jump combos. Sorry for drawing over the painting Bogo :(
  • Adds a to-do list someone left in the pellet pit of Wolloh's Hollow. This does not give solutions, but gives the player vague hints on what they should do if they get stuck. The "Current Objective" menu and Alexis hints were not enough for some players.
  • Replaced the pause menu timer with 1 word hints on what direction to head in.

This mod does NOT:
  • Make the platforming easier
  • Change locations of XP items
  • Change Void Screw Requirements
  • Outright give you puzzle solutions
  • Give you free cows or nachos

INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT! THIS MOD DOES NOT WORK ON THE 60FPS BETA OR 4K BETA VERSIONS. USE THE DEFAULT CORN KIDZ 64 INSTALLATION.

  • 1) Download the mod files[drive.google.com] https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VorteVtg1cYqmcEx0tE3X_oCcjQRgChW/view?usp=sharing

  • 2) Unzip the mod zip folder

  • 3) Locate your Corn Kidz 64 game folder
  • 3x) To find this folder, go to the game in your Steam library, click the gear icon, Hover over "Manage", then click "Browse local files" on the sub menu that appears.

  • 4) Place the "Corn Kidz_64 Data" folder you downloaded and place it in your Corn Kidz 64 game folder

  • 5) The system will ask you to replace 6 or 7 files. Click "Replace the files in the destination".
  • 5x) If you do not get this prompt, or it says a number different than six or seven, you likely put the wrong folder there.

  • 6) Start the game
UNINSTALLATION
Recommendation: This mod is best played on a fresh save file. This should not break your existing game file, but whatever level you achieved while the mod is installed will remain on your save file forever.

  • 1) Go to the game in your Steam library, click the gear icon, then click "Properties". A new window will pop up.

  • 2) Click on the "Installed Files" tab on the left.

  • 3) Click "Verify Integrity of Game files". Steam will detect the mod files and remove them, replacing them with the default game files.

  • 4) Wait for any downloads to finish on Steam

  • 5) Start the game up again!
NOTE
This mod may break if there is a large update to the game. If such an event happens, I will update the mod to work for newer versions, but it might take a few days for me to get around to it.

Please do not report bugs to Bogo that are a result for this mod! If you report bugs after uninstalling the mod, be sure to mention you installed this mod at one point.

@Pinky This mod does not lower the 110% requirement. But after beating the game normally, you will get an object counter on the pause screen, so you don't have to go to beat the tower to see your object totals. This will allow you to see what levels you are missing XP items in. The locations of said XP cubes, bottle caps, and void screws are unchanged.

Would this mod help me get all the achievements for the game? I still haven't climbed the void tower yet but for some reason the game is saying I haven't collected all the XP cubes. I have combed over every single inch of every level and area, watched all youtube videos about the game and read all the guides about it online, and still cant find them all. I know theres a couple things to collect in the tower but from what ive seen online, I should have more XP then what I have
