First method

For the first method, simply disconnect the LAN cable, disconnect from Wi-Fi, or switch Steam to "Offline" mode. After doing this, you won't be able to take screenshots, but you'll be able to enjoy the game.

Second method

If you want to stay online in Steam and continue taking screenshots in this amazing game, you should use the second method (this is the one I used to fix the game). The second method involves using the HxD program to modify the game's code.

1. Download and install HxD from the official website: https://mh-nexus.de/en/downloads.php?product=HxD20
2. Open the application and load the AssassinsCreed_Dx10 file, which is located in the directory where the game is installed. In my case, the path is: D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Assassins Creed\AssassinsCreed_Dx10

3. The following information will appear on the screen.

4. Press Ctrl + F, type gconnect.ubi.com, and hit Enter.

5. Then, left-click the letter "g" to highlight it, which will highlight the number 67 that we need. (Highlighted in blue in the screenshot).

6. Then, before the number 67, add 00, save the changes using Ctrl + S, and make sure the result matches the screenshot.

7. Done. The freezes are fixed.

Второй способ

Если вы хотите оставаться в сети в Steam и продолжать делать скриншоты в этой потрясающей игре, то вам следует воспользоваться вторым способом (именно с ним мне удалось починить игру). Второй способ заключается в том, чтобы с помощью программы HxD внести изменения в код игры.

1. Загружаем и устанавливаем HxD с официального сайта - https://mh-nexus.de/en/downloads.php?product=HxD20
2. Открываем наше приложение и загружаем файл AssassinsCreed_Dx10, который находится в директории, где была установлена игра. В моем случае это путь: D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Assassins Creed\AssassinsCreed_Dx10

5. Затем левым кликом мыши выделяем букву "g", после чего выделяется цифра 67, которая нам и требуется. (выделенная синим цветом на скриншоте).

6. Затем перед цифрой 67 вводим 00, сохраняем изменения с помощью Ctrl + S и проверяем, чтобы результат соответствовал изображению на скриншоте.

7. Готово. Фризы устранены.

No need to edit the install like this, just redirect gconnect.ubi.com to localhost or 127.0.0.1 in your OS's host file.

In 2025, the new address for blocking in hosts:
216.98.50.240 127.0.0.1
If it doesn't work for you, you can determine the problem using the Wireshark program at the time of freezing.

If you're on Linux, you can also add a few things to /etc/hosts:

127.0.0.1 gconnect.ubi.com
203.132.26.155 127.0.0.1
127.0.0.1 uts.ubi.com

Thank you for your helpful instructions for the “second method”. Without these instructions I would have given up. I don't know if the points for the “price” are worth anything to you, but at least I tried to show my appreciation. :)
