You've got a few rares in the starter "house", worth a few hundred each.
So you get items from a $1000 and up depending on what house you're stripping down.
Just send them to the warehouse at the house when inside, even though you go over the max capacity, load up the car and sell at the closest pawn shop after verifying them.
This can also be done in reverse, for some extended storage through the Architect mode in every house, you pick from the warehouse and place the items in the house for safekeeping.
A little bit of a hassle, but a valid tip if in a pinch.
Hopefully that'll give it some signal boosting, so other players can find it helpful for their situation.
But that's my loss.
