Introduction - State of the Game
Currently, the player count hovers around 250-300 during peak hours, which typically occur at 3 PM Eastern Time daily. While this limited population means fewer active game modes, fan-favorites like Shipment 24/7 are reliably accessible. Outside of peak times, matchmaking may be slower, and players often turn to community groups or forums to coordinate games. This guide aims to help you make the most of the current state of the game, whether you’re revisiting it or experiencing it for the first time.

Contrary to what the others are saying, there are not many run-ins for cheaters on the PC version of this game. I have been playing since launch and can only remember running into cheaters without a shadow of a doubt about 2-3 times in my life. 90% of the recurring players to this day are above the age of 50 and are not of sound mind. When they face a skilled player, they have no reaction other than "Oh that player is cheating". If you are better than these old heads, then they think you're cheating. I have had so much fun on this game and I love making the old folks cry. That being said if you want to play multiplayer just about the only thing available to play is shipment, but perma 2xp for everything is on so there's that.

I also have just created a CODWW2 LFG group to find players to join, which you or anyone can join here.
Currently Active Game Modes
As Call of Duty: WWII has long passed its peak popularity, the number of active players has significantly diminished, making some game modes more difficult to access than others. Based on current player activity, the most consistently available mode is Shipment 24/7. This fast-paced, close-quarters playlist remains a community favorite due to its high-action gameplay, quick matches, and steady influx of players. If you're looking for guaranteed matches and a way to rack up kills or level up quickly, Shipment 24/7 is your best bet.

Beyond Shipment, there are occasional matches available in Hardcore Team Deathmatch, though finding a game often depends on the time of day and player region. It’s worth noting that Hardcore TDM may require some patience in matchmaking, and the consistency of games can vary. Other modes like Domination, War, or Free-for-All are largely deserted and may only be accessible during specific peak hours or through dedicated events organized by the community. If you’re set on exploring these modes, joining active Steam groups or Discord communities can help locate other players interested in less-popular playlists.

Organized play in the war game mode is sometimes successful. I am in a private organized play chat that I unfortunately cannot post an invite link to, but if you join the LFG group, I will notify those players when War mode is populated.
Multiplayer Leveling - Tips For Newer Players
Headquarters

The Headquarters is where you will find access to the majority of post launch content such as weapons and weapon skins.

Contracts can be selected from the Operations Officer/Major Howard and completed in order to obtain supply drops and credits faster than playing without them. New daily contracts will cycle every day at 1 PM Eastern. Each week three (3) weekly contracts will be available and will grant rare supply drops.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Contracts can be purchased with armory credits from the Quartermaster/Corporal Green and completed for guaranteed weapons, credits, and supply drops. This is your best shot at guaranteed post-launch content. New weapons cycle every day at 1 PM Eastern.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The mail system is how you recive gifts and rewards in Call of Duty WWII. It's how you get in-game currency (see Payroll below) or random gifts for consistent play and random rewards. Payroll is a set amount of in-game currency rewarded to players after a set amount of time.

Prestiging your divisions is one of the best ways to get free access to more guns.

Prestiging any of the divisions at least once will grant you access to a new weapon that you would otherwise not have access to (unless you were lucky in supply drops). Prestiging the original 4 divisions at least once will grant you access to the V2 Rocket kill streak, a secret kill streak awarded at 25 kills (kills gotten from guns and equipment only) similar to Modern Warfare 3's MOAB.
Conclusion
