My thoughts on every weapon I have encountered so far:
By D Mustard
By no means comprehensive, I don't think i've found every gun yet. Just some thoughts on what I have found so far.

Assault rifles
Corpsemaker:

Probably the first good gun most people get, its a classic workhorse that fights most content fairly well.

M11A2 Fisk:
Image to be inserted whenever I find an unmodified version of it
ITS THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GOAT. Fastest reload in the game, you can fire while pulling it out (every other gun requires the ready animation to finish) so it can be modded as a backup panic button as well as a good primary, nice mag size, nice damage, lower spread than other assault rifles, base caliber is also readily available. There's nothing wrong with this gun, I love it!

Type 80 Typhoon:

Worse handling, mag size, and durability than the Fisk/corpse, but better damage because of the caliber. If you are changing the caliber anyways, just use the FIsk. If not, this is a decent enough gun on its own.
Pistols
P38 Dirk:

We all know the stats of the dirk alright? Its one of the guns of all time, handles caves alright but not suited for deeper content. Held back by durability and low mag size.

Bronco 89:

While it has a decent mag capacity and damage, it really sucks to have to reload it one bullet at a time. Definitely an early game gun.

Socom 9:

Low mag capacity, its basically reskin dirk, I use it as sell fodder.

Gravekeeper:

Reskinned dirk in a new caliber. Mag capacity too low to be useful outside of early game.

Star & Witness:

It's a vibe. Twin pistols with a decent magazine capacity and fire rate. I want to enjoy this gun, but I can't because of the relatively low durability (1800 vs the 3300-3600 of other options), as well as the lack of attachments (no free crit from sights [you cant even ADS this gun], no barrel attachments, I didn't have a laser pointer to try to put it on but maybe that would work idk).

Breck 8:

The pistol GOAT. High mag size, fire rate, durability, and fits all attachments. I loved my breck 8 until I found the M11A2 Fisk.
Shotguns
Arbiter 2:

A nice early game panic button, but falls off later when it becomes more important to be able to shoot more than once.

1889 Mario:

2 shots with a slowish reload. Same conclusion as the Arbiter 2.

Augusta:

The mario but energy cells. Same issues, not too useful.

Breacher 8:

A gimmick gun, I didn't really see any scenario where I wanted to use it so I didn't.

Mossman:

The most useful of the shotguns so far, yet completely outshined by most other guns rechambered to 12 gauge.
Revolvers
Snut .38:

Another early game gun, I don't really care enough about it to try to make a build work for it.

357 Balthazar:

Sounds really satisfying to shoot, sadly a 4 round magazine and slow reload bricks the gun for me.

Palehorse topclipper

Not being able to reload if the magazine isn't empty is actually really annoying, hard pass on this gun from me.
Rifles
Knop .22:
It's a single shot rifle with relatively low damage, and common as all hell. Probably you have already seen it, tried it, and decided it is mostly useless. I have nothing else to say about it.

M182 Pierre-Fusil

Early game gun, held back by low mag size.

Ferryman

20 round full auto 50 BMG. It's a good gun, but 50 BMG is too hard to use in the quantities needed to play it as a primary.
SMGs
Drifter 9:

The first automatic weapon I found, it serves its purpose well as an early game enemy muncher. However, the slow rate of fire, reload, and damage hold it back later on.

Ploika compact:

The high rate of fire makes this gun potentially great if recalibered, but the recoil makes it a struggle to use.

M3 Termite:

The fact you reload 3 bullets at a time kills this gun for me.

Vrede:

Contender with some of the assault rifles for good weapon base to mod out into a late game primary.
Sniper Rifles
Dolphin:
While snipers are good against the slower moving or ranged enemies, and the dolphin is really good at getting rid of them, in later levels certain enemies rush you down really really fast, and the dolphin struggles too much there to be a useful gun outside of early game. Also 50 BMG is a pretty rough caliber to supply ammo for.

Rokua .308:

Basically the same as the dolphin but in a more common and affordable caliber. Still all the same problems.

D4RT:

Takes all the problems of snipers and multiplies it by all the problems of the Knop .22, with the addition of a delay between the trigger pull and the round being fired. Don't use it.
LMGs
Duhar:
This gun is cool in that it has two barrels for really fast shooting, but unfortunately it has too little durability for me to seriously consider using it outside of some niche boss killer setup.

Give the Socom pistol a chance bro. Was my first rank 5 gun. Only put 3 oils on it at max because of durability. I still love and sometimes play this gun

Fully leveled, with a few choice oils and a light scroll, plus a .50 rechamber, the Pierre is a BEAST. The reload doesn't even matter cuz it's relatively quick and you're mulching everything with a single shot anyway.

rokua re-chambered to .5o cal is my go to for big tanky baddies, or anything at range in the city

I can tell youi one thing with certainty: the neuraxis SUCKS ASS.
An incredibly imprecise LMG that needs to fire for two whole seconds to hit anything in front of you. And worst of all? IT'S SINGLE LOADED! THAT MEANS YOU HAVE TO PAINSTACKINGLY PUT IN THE ENTIRE MAGAZINE ONE LROUND AT THE TIME, FOR A GUN THAT HAS A HUNDRED BULLET MAG!
It's 100% a joke weapon.

Try out the lighter. It sucks lmao but it's fun

You need more experimentation. This game allows you to make something at least interesting even with a STANDARD gun.
Yes, some things are harder to handle, but you can try to come up with an effective build for those as well.
Bronco - You can make a shotgun that is more comfortable than the Mossman
The Breacher is a good weapon, although not a very high rate of fire.
Do not underestimate it, as you can load several rounds for a very powerful shot.

I genuinely love the Knop. Bind reload to a mouse button, give it a single Projectiles oil, and 2+ Damage % oils. Surprisingly great hip fire accuracy, and great damage per bullet - stretch those cheap 9mms! Fantastic workhorse for the first few zones. Just don't mod so much that the durability becomes unsustainable. (For me, that was usually around 4 oils and 3 attachments. So if you skimp on attachments, 4 oils is probably fine.)

That said - if you hate the Knop, that's valid! Its flow takes some getting used to.

Beck, not Breck lol Love that gun, got the multi-projectile oil on it, plus chance to not use ammo, it's pretty great.

Oh also forgot to mention, I leveled all of the guns in the game to Level 5 excluding six of them so I have experience with them all. It is true that there is something for everyone, and the guns that isn't for anyone is there to enrichen the loot table.

I finished my first run with a Socom 9. Only had silencer+sight+ laser on it. No oils no scrolls. You are sleeping on that gun.
A 12.7 Rokua can carry you through most areas. Deals the same amount of damage with the Dolphin (400) but you can do XBox 360 era quickscope edits with it.
Beck and Star&Witness are great with gun crank mod.But Beck is still better due to ADS.
Augusta with gun crank is fun. Not useful in the long run but fun. It works like Doom Super Shotgun due to insanely fast RPM.
Priming bolt is a must for Ferryman. Works great as a 'panic button' against whatever might be lunging your way but it blocks your view a lot.
