Welcome to ANOTHER series of videos from @CaptChang Presents... UBOAT! I've actually owned UBOAT since its early access days, but never really tried it. Now that it's left early access, it's time to give it a try!

I attempt to do my fourth mission: Enigma recovery. The Brits have sunk one of our U-boats, and we doubt the crew had a chance to destroy the Enigma machine. We drew the mission to recover it.

Let's continue... then check supplies.

02:00 Depart home port

Let's get out of the port, and start on the long voyage... and we are ignoring ALL contacts, including radio messages from fellow U-boats.

We did observe a fellow U-boat sunk. We dove just in time to avoid attention.

07:06 Arrival and surprise

We arrived in the area and we slowed... And the lookout yelled warship, dead ahead! We dove immediately. It appears there was a British corvette right on top of the sunken U-boat, and she's just sitting there!

We snuck in as close as we dared, only 400 meters, when the captain caught another shadow in the distance... There was a destroyer BEHIND the corvette!

We seriously considered abandoning the mission, but decided we have the element of surprise. We will fire one torpedo at the corvette, and two at the destroyer. If we can sink both, we are good. If we miss either of them, we're probably dead anyway, but better than going home empty handed.

16:04 Fire One!

The Corvette was hit and sank less than a minute later.

19:25 Fire two! Fire three!

Two torpedoes were launched against the destroyer. A little over a minute later, she was hit twice and sank.

Secure from silent running, surface the ship, resume normal ops.

22:33 Diving for Treasure

Engineer, ready for the special job? Yep, don the diving suit please. Yes, please go recover the Enigma machine.

23:14 Recovery complete

After multiple attempts, the main hatch was finally opened, and Enigma retrieved.

Von Dresky, we have two injuries, treat them now.

Lookouts, coordinate with helm, recover the British flotsam. There could be useful supplies. (Multiple Med kits were found)

With nothing else to do, we headed back toward our home port.

24:44 We are home!

Wilhelmshaven welcomed us with a band. Clearly HQ was quite pleased with our performance. Indeed, multiple officers got medals, including the captain, and gained skills. Dr. Prien was transported to the hospital and will be out for a month. When he returns, he will be the sixth officer. We used a reputation point to make sure we had room for him. We can use another officer to help stand watch.

We reloaded supplies, and picked a new mission: mine the British Isles. This time, it'd be deep in British home waters. We loaded 4 mine packets as ordered, leaving just 1 torpedo onboard. After verifying supplies, we are ready to depart.

As for how that will turn out... will have to wait for the next episode.

I actually haven't played a WW2 sub sim for a VERY long time. Last one I've played was Sid Meier's Silent Service (the original, not II). Yes, it's been that long. I actually never played the Silent Hunter series either. This would be an interesting experience as I tend to play more "modern" sub sims.

I'll take it easy on myself and go with the "entertaining" setting instead of hardcore.
