However, it also means they tend to lose workers, get tiles raided and they have to spend military power on aliens instead of massing and potentially attack you.
Plus, it is MUCH harder for them to send colonists out. Even if they do, outposts are often destroyed quickly.
Of course, this tactic works best when you yourself do not antagonize the aliens so they aren't attacking you.
I do however very much raiding cargo ships of random people I've never met before and far away from me..
For me its the normal for any game I play on steam.
