How to make Star Wars Battlefront: 2004 look visually good!
By TheSaturnian9982
I've noticed that it seems almost nobody uses ReShade for both this game and the sequel, so I am here to try and change that! This game looks really good with ReShade, and even better in the sequel if you've got the remaster mod installed there! It's just you need to know what you're doing when dealing with ReShade.

Installing Reshade
Now the first thing you need to do is to install Reshade itself. The process is fairly straight forward. Just head to this link here: https://reshade.me/ and then hit the "Download" button.

I've noticed a few people seem to think that Reshade is a virus, and while it may or may not set off the antivirus thing on your computer, it doesn't mean that it's actually a virus. Many people have used Reshade for many years, including myself, and none of us have said that it's a virus. Hell, I'm surprised it isn't a virus with how good Reshade is at making games look BEAUTIFUL!

Anyways, once you install Reshade, then open it. Once you do, you should get a screen that allows you to select the .exe file of any game or application you want to select. For this, head over to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Battlefront (Classic 2004)\GameData and select the "Battlefront.exe" file. Once done, it will ask you to select the graphics type for the game. For both the first game and the sequel, they use DirectX9 so select that and hit "Next".

On the final screen you should see a whole set of effects and things like that. You can select anything you want here, it's all up to you. But for me, I mainly used things like FXShaders and stuff like that to make my game look the way it does.

After you have done all of that, it should download it onto the game and you'll be able to use it in-game. Now proceed onto the next section!
In-game
Once you start-up Star Wars Battlefront (Classic 2004), you should see a bar on the top of your screen and you should also see some text saying "Loading effects" or something like that with a number behind it. The number will depend on how many effects you've selected, so for me I usually have like 100 or 200 total.

All you need to do is wait for Reshade to load up all the effects. It usually takes a little bit depending on the amount of effects you've got, but after it loads it all up, it shouldn't take as long the next time you boot up the game.

Once you did that, hit the "Home" button on your keyboard to open the Reshade menu. Do the tutorial if you want, or if you don't, hit the "Skip Tutorial" button and you should see every single effect that you've selected.

Now is the fun part! Head to an aesthetically pleasing map such as Kashyyyk: Docks, Hoth, Geonosis, Naboo Theed, Mos Eisely, or Bespin: Platforms. I choose these specific maps because I've found them to be best for configuring Reshade and seeing how it all effects the look and feel of these maps, mostly using Geonosis or Mos Eisely because the effects are quite noticeable on those two maps!

Once in the map of your choice, go ahead and spawn in and then go somewhere that is in the Sun. Find a place that looks worthy of a screenshot, and then look towards the Sun but not directly at it. This should allow you to see things like bloom and lens flares more clearly in Reshade. Now, pause the game so you don't get killed or something by some stupid bot.

Open up Reshade with the "Home" button on your keyboard, and then start selecting whatever effects you'd like to select! It may take you a while to find whatever fits your liking as everyone has a different preference, so just tinker around a bit and have some fun with the properties of each effect!

That's really it, honestly. This same guide can also apply to the sequel since it's really the same game as the first. If you need any more help, go to the Reshade website! Have fun!!
