Witchfire's Stamina System
By Wendy
Explaining the stamina system better because it's not intuitive and the tutorial felt vague.

Stamina System
Stamina is the bar above your health.

 It naturally depletes with movement—sprinting,
 dashing, sliding, and jumping—and refills
 automatically when walking or stationary.
It also refills from melee attacks.

Stamina has two crucial mechanics:
  • Exhaustion
  • Focus
Exhaustion occurs when stamina is fully depleted. You'll suffer slowing effects when attempting to use movement besides walking. Spacing out your movement can help you avoid exhaustion.

Focus occurs when maximum stamina is reached. It's denoted by a yellow stamina bar. You begin every expedition with max.

When focused, targeting an enemy and dashing reveals a Soul Sigil. This is a small, red orb that appears around the enemy.

Shooting this orb stuns the target and provides a multiplier to damage inflicted on them.

This is crucial to the flow of combat as stunning difficult enemies provides breathing room and
more damage for the player.

Losing Focus

Focus is lost when taking damage. However, this can be restored by killing enemies. It's crucial to avoid as much damage as possible to maximize the utility of your stamina.

Thank you for this.

This game does a piss poor job of explaining the fundamental mechanics. For instance, how come sometimes my melee is an empowered hit and other times I'm slapping like a 90 lb weakling?

This guide needs expanding actually. You can also lose some of the maximum stamina by taking damage, particularly poison damage. Your bar just gets smaller. And some guns do state that they cant be fired with no stamina. I'm not sure if there is some other form of stamina reduction effects as I've yet to finish the game, but this is what I did notice.

Oh shit so that's maybe why suddenly I can't fire my gun. Yeah, that needs to be clearer.

thank you, from an aged newbie.

Worth mentioning that firing shotguns, and firing/aiming snipers also costs stamina, and will put you into exhaustion if you keep firing/aiming while depleted.
