This "Handbook" contains the knowledge from past Alchemists, Witches, and the like, all for your reading pleasure.
Worry not about the "expertise" of alchemy, nor worry about the risk of death. These risks are unlikely, and should you perish, the book will be rescued and passed onto new adventurers such as yourself.

you get the achievement for monsters or brooms

The cure potion (teal, leek + tooth) will turn regular monsters AND brooms into peasants, the latter is an achievement iirc.

Tossing two dead witches into the cauldron will produce wine (the potion that makes you drunk and inverts left/right controls).

2 coin = gold potion

slime can be digested through a cauldron into a bottle
slime + empty genie lamp (most likely any item) = viscous potion (slime in a bottle)

p.s. I checked again, after drinking, slime appears

I managed to produce the slime potion. However, drinking it does not do anything. I think it only does something if thrown or broken.
