HIMS Thunderous Vanquisher

A high unconventional design, the Thunderous Vanquisher was not always intended to be as it is. When initially proposed, the ship was to carry a main battery of six colossal 20 inch cannons; with this overwhelming battery, Pydrinck hoped to sink any opposing capital ships before they could even engage it in turn. When the great forges of Pydrinck proved unable to produce such weapons in the quality required and the quantity desired, radical changes were made. Scaled back to a still sizable 16 inch primary armament, a pair of wing turrets was installed with the saved weight to bring its broadside to a more respectable level, but this was not the most significant alteration. No longer needing to outmanoeuvre enemy fleets, top speed and cruising range were cut down to make way for a large aircraft hangar in the vessel's rear, and a flight deck placed behind the main tower in the space initially intended for the rear superstructure and secondary battery. Though now with only a measly number of casemated guns, the result is a hybrid between a battleship and an aircraft carrier, and one with a considerable air wing despite its mixed design priorities. It maintains battleship-grade armour across much of its hull, and with ten main guns she is more than capable of staying in the battle line after disgorging her bombers. While the Pydrinckian Grand Fleet never operates without anti-aircraft escort, the Thunderous Vanquisher carrier a quartet of fighter aircraft to ensure the safe arrival of its payload even in contented skies, and its "Xericeps" dive bombers are able to fulfil a secondary air superiority role should no surface targets present themselves; in light of this, its vast array of anti-aircraft guns may seems superfluous, but Dominion fleets are notorious for their aviation components. Should a superior force be met, as many aerial casualties are to be inflicted as possible before they reap their deadly harvest.
