Spain can recruit Frontiersmen in Florida at the Military Governor's Barracks that they start the game with there, which is certainly a comparable unit. However my current approach to Spain involves selling that on Turn One.

I see that 1 unit of light infantry Spain gets at the start. Shame you cant recruit more of those
