I have not "played" since I encountered this, I've been switching between Dice & fold & this chasing the achieves for both. I have only logged into the game briefly to see if it registered floor 10 or not, which it has not.

I was baffled by the "you can't afford the necessary down payment" when I had over 5k left after paying rent!

So I need to play floor 9 the next time I play to have this battle happen? I would really appreciate any info you can tell me, thanks.

I don't know if you played further, but you're not done with the floor yet. There is a battle after that you need to win.
