Introduction
Welcome to my Dead Island Definitive Edition Quick Cash Walkthrough. Dead Island is one of zombie-themed open world game along with Dying Light which interestingly developed by same gaming company Techland. Both feature similar mechanic, by killing zombies you gain some EXP and with EXP you can further upgrade your heroes especially their skill tree. Other than that both games also offer quick saving feature which will save your game progress often after certain moments.

The one that differ between two quick save features is the saving frequency. Dead Island saves your game often, by completing mini NPC mission, reaching certain area, and it saves even after your hero dies and will sometimes respawn the dying hero right at the spot where he dies. Dying Light is quite different, after death the hero will immediately be transported back to the spot where quick save occurs not the spot where hero dies. In Dead Island items including loots and cash will also be reset after death. Not only that, they will also be reset after you quit to main menu, no matter how many times you die or quit these items will respawn infinitely, well maybe until you PC dies off Lol.

Please be noted that resetting items/loots by dying is not recommended as you will lose 10% amount of cash you currently have in your hero's inventory, quite different to Dying Light which will penalize you by deducting some EXP.
Why am I writing this guide
It comes to my attention when you play early or halfway through the game the enemies grow stronger and stronger than before. That is because the enemies are scaled up to your current hero's level just like in Dying Light. E.g your current level is 15 the enemy level will also be increased to 15, even 16 and 17 but it's rare to encounter enemy level below your level. Higher level enemy mean higher equipment you should invest into, e.g you probably won't hold your low level weapons to beat high level enemies as they have more health, you need to buy brand new high level weapons from the merchant or find somewhere from weapon box. The best way to get high level weapons based on my experience is buying from the merchant, don't forget also with considerable amount of cash. You can't buy weapon without cash so cash is your priority especially if you want purple or even gold weapon. This guide will help you to earn cash in quick way with at least minimum effort.
Prerequisites
In order to follow my quick cash guide especially for new players these are the requirements you should meet:
  • Chapter 7 must be reached
  • Supermarket area must be unlocked
  • Supermarket Journey mission must be finished
but don't clear the main quest that follows Supermarket Journey e.g Bitter Run quest .
Why is this?
Because proceeding to this main quest or onward will involve leaving the supermarket area therefore you will have to backtrack your steps again through city hall and numerous sewers inhabited by tough zombies.

What if I beat Chapter 7 onward already?
Don't worry, you can always get back to the supermarket but it isn't simple way as you think. You'll need to head back to City Hall and reenter portion of sewers which is long journey. You can also grab cash from laboratory safes , pretty much later part of the game I think.
Quick Cash Farming Guide
Okay you're now in the supermarket, now you've probably killed bunch of bandits wandering in the warehouse, the last section of supermarket. Do you remember all those coolers and cash registers scattering on supermarket hall? Well these are literally our magic spell for hoarding cash quick. If you previously have hoarded them before then you will not have anything left to do beside quitting the game and let them reset.
Please take a look at the map I created below.

Once you quit and continue, you'll spawn at one of three random locations as I mentioned on the map.
Starting point #1 is what we will use for our entire guide because it's the simplest and easiest way hoarding cash without having to break doors or even kill zombies in our way.
Starting point #2 is worse as you can only have access to 5 coolers and you need to break several doors to reach other cooler and registers on the south side of the map
Starting point #3 basically the worst and should be avoided as there are many zombies and a Floater along your way plus additional valve you need to close to pass leaking gas safely.

Wait, what if I keep respawning at point #2 or even #3?
Solution: Just get to the nearby spot #1, kill zombies there if you see red bloody biohazard symbol on the left side of your screen it means your game is quick saving. After the symbol disappears quickly quit the game and select continue, you'll have then spawned at #1 already. If it still does not work head all the way to point #1 and try to track different side quest, quit and continue. If it still does not work the worst part is you'll have to get to nearby #1 and get your hero killed there, effortlessly. Once the game deducts your 10% cash and saves your progress you'll now probably spawn at the right spot.

Once you spawn at #1 spot (on the stairway) climb the stairs and dash yourself to the 1F, open the big double doors and ignore zombie beside the door. Again dash yourself all the way to the L shaped corridor, you'll see some zombies lying on the floor but ignore them since they won't bother you unless you bother them.
Enter through half-opened double door to the supermarket hall. From this point you'll want to follow my steps in order to get the cash as fast as possible.
1) Immediately turn right and dash to the east nearby shelf you'll see four coolers lined up and other two by the south. Open them in order from 1 to 6 following this picture below
You'll either get Brand Champagne, or Lemon Juice, or alcohol, or even Stingray Tail by opening the cooler.
2) Now dash to a bit further to the north and you'll find a lone cooler also our 7th cooler, open it.

3) Continue dashing to the east, just after you pass a shelf there will be another lone cooler (#8) also our first cash register on nearby wooden counter (#9)
There's another lone cooler to the south from here but the way is barred by some kind of plank so you'll need to duck under it. This cooler is not recommended as you have to duck under a plank wasting over 5 seconds

4) Now head back to nearby shelf, turn right to the north there's another lone cooler #10 to open.

5) Now dash yourself to the east you'll then find a cash register lying on the floor just beside the carts for you to open. #11

6) To the north there will be other two counters with a cash register each. #12 #13

7) Finally the last cash register is on the wooden counter to the north #14

Once you have done it all quit the game, continue, and repeat to the first step.

If you're lucky enough you'll have probably reaped around 6000-8000 cash from all 5 cash registers and around 3-5 champagne from all 9 coolers in between 30 to 40 seconds per run. The best case here is ~8000 cash and ~7 champagne, have never found 9 champagne at once lol.

Wait, we're not done yet. What we have to do with all those champagne for cash? drink it? or sell it?
Answer is : Neither!

Remember that there's Russian lady named Svetlana at the north east side resort willing to trade a Brand Champagne for a big hefty diamond and 1000 EXP . If you've done Time for Booze quest before from her you know that her quest is actually continuous, aka unlimited. You can get unlimited amount of diamonds and EXP from her as long as you don't feel tired farming all day. Not only that, you can also sell the diamond to the merchant for 1500 cash each.

Keep in mind that if you've done Svetlana's Booze quest before, it will become available again if you're at resort area as being at supermarket or other locations outside the resort will temporarily block the quest (can also be said that quest disappears from quest tab). Once you have enough resource to trade to her you can then exit the supermarket area.

Lastly If you plan to grab another 5 coolers in the room with two survivors and 2 weapon boxes from surveillance and warehouse it's up to you but it's not recommended as it will take more your time especially with additional 3 doors you need to break open and 2 human enemies you need to eliminate along your way, also weapon box often gives you random crap. Here we only focus on grabbing those first 14 loots to minimize our time and efforts.

Conclusion
Well after this far walking through this guide we may conclude that getting cash may be a bit tricky at first but once we understand the game mechanic all is possible (definitely without CHEATING!)
Loots including cash and craftable items can be reset as many times as you want, by reloading a map, quitting, and dying, but once again dying method is not recommended as you will lose 10% of cash in the process. Quitting the game and reload by far is the most efficient way, not only minimize the time taken but also minimize our efforts.
Keep in mind that the worst part is all 5 cash registers may be sometimes empty and all 9 coolers don't bear any champagne but alcohols. I've encountered this countless times on my runs.

My current game record
You may have a look at my inventory below
As you can see there are over 2m cash and exactly 1137 Brand Champagne there, that also means 1137 diamonds and 1.137.000 EXP if I keep doing Svetlana's continuous quests non stop. Not only that, if I plan to sell all those diamonds I will get around 1.7million cash. Wow
The average time for me to go back and forth from main menu to cash register #14 was around 35-40 seconds, let's suppose that I got average 4000 in cash per run in 40 seconds we can calculate how many runs I've done this far.
✻ Number of run = 2.000.000/4.000 = 500 runs
We can again calculate how many seconds to hours I've played these runs
✻ Time taken = 500 x 40 seconds = 20.000 seconds = 5.5 hours.

Other than that alcohols also flood my bag LOL

Probably around 50ish stack of 30 alcohol, that means 1500 alcohols total. I have no idea the exact uses of these alcohols, perhaps I will make Logan drink all of them or perhaps I will trade them to Mike for molotov cocktails 5 to 1, which way you think is the best? Hahaha
