Missable Achievements (Almost Spoiler Free)

This guide highlights the missable achievements that would require a second playthrough if not collected. It is as minimalist as possible to allow for self-exploration. I felt it wasn't justified to do a second run, especially since there isn't much to do after the first playthrough.

Any improvement suggestions are welcome.

Missable definition

By "missable," I mean achievements that would require a second playthrough if not collected. While you can still miss some other achievements if you don't explore enough, you have the chance to collect those after the main story.

Fight Through Hardship

Finish Nine Sols on Standard Mode.

Play the game in Standard Mode.

You Bastard & Repurposed

Obtain map data from Shanhai 9000 by force.
When you reach your first Shanhai 9000 (Not your one that you repair) DON'T choose either of the two options. Go to the nearest save point, and save your game.

Then navigate to "C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\RedCandleGames" and create a copy of the whole NineSols folder.

Go to the Shanhai 9000, pull out the map data by force, get the Achievement and quit out of the game. Then replace your save folder with your backup and reload the last save point.

Repurposed

Now go again to the Shanhai 9000 and this time pay him the Jin request. For the remainder of the game never aquire a map data chip with force again, always give them the Jin requested. Regularly interact with Shuanshuan and give him any items you come across. At some point, rather late in the game, Shuanshuan will have the fortune teller machine crafted.

Your second option to get both achievements is, to never pull out a data chip the whole game. After your first playthrough, create a new save, play till the first Shanhai 9000 and pull it out.

Fight Dirty

In the Factory (Production Area) hack the two guards and then find the Gene Eradicator. Use this in the final Area (Shengwu Hall) before starting the Boss fight. If you start the Boss fight without using it you are locked out of the achievement.

Robo Fight!

Defeat Tianshou while driving a robot.

In the Empyrean District (Passages), before heading towards the middle, go to the upper right and find the robot behind a door. Use your Mystic Nymph to unlock the door. Afterwards, proceed to the middle of the map where you'll encounter a mini-boss. Fight the mini-boss with the unlocked robot.

What Have You Done?!

Break the clay pot made by Shuanshuan

When you handed over the Red Guifang Clay to Shuanshuan rest at the Root Node, talk to Shuanshuan again, rest again and then break the Pot. If you miss breaking the pot after the second revisit and the Pot gets handed over to Kuafu you missed the achievement

FYI, 'Evolution' is also a missable trophy. You can miss out on this if you hand over Nypmh to Shuanshan before hacking the last switch

It seems that after breaking the pot you can quit the game immediately, return and the pot will be intact so you don't miss what happens when you don't break it.

Welp, beat tianshou and then immediately went right and saw the robot and remembered the achievement

Guess I'm dong a second playthrough after this haha

Yup, can confirm the achievment still triggers even after having interacted with the first Shanhai 9000. I got a bit worried because the guide specifically mentions not to interact with it before creating a backup.

In any case, thanks for making it. Got all the missable achievements now

Yes, I believe so. If you haven't selected either option before backing up your save you still can get both achievements.

Question about "Repurposed". I have backed up my save before choosing any of the options but I have also already interacted with him. Will I still get "Repurposed" if I continue the game and always buy his chips?

You can do mutually exclusive achievements by backing up/restoring your saves in LocalLow folder.

You don't need him for the Repurposed achievement; it's fine to kill him.

Does breaking the robot in the Transmutation Zone (the one that calls you an intruder and attacks you) count against the 'Repurposed' achievement?
