This map was drawn in hoi4 mod "Mappa Mundi", and redrawn in paint.net. The lore is simple, after the German revolutions in 1848 and 1849, a lot more germans than in our timeline migrated to Texas, and because of that they managed to stay independent. Because of that, the US, foolishly created more states in the north, and the north-south balance was broken sooner, leading to a civil war in 1854, which caused Louisiana (Acadia) to break free with the help of Texas, as a slave-free republic. The south won the civil war, and were independent until they joined WW1 with the Central Powers, and were reintegrated into the US in 1919. Because there are almost no native English speakers in either Texas or Acadia, and since they supported the Entente in WW1, they stayed independent into the modern day. You can also see, that Mexico has more land up north, they have New Mexico, Arizona and South California. You can also observe Rio Grande is independent, and it's a bilingual German-Spanish country, poorer but closely tied to Texas. Texas is a 3 party state, with elections every 6 years, they use the texan dollar, which is worth 1,34 US dollars. They are in NATO and the North American Free Trade and Borders Union (similar to the EU and schengen)."
