Manga/Novel
Novels and Manga
While not essential for understanding the core plot of Kingdom Hearts, the novels and manga enrich the universe by dig into characters backgrounds, side stories, and additional insights. I recommend reading them after completing each corresponding game to enhance your appreciation of the characters and their journeys.

I am going to add to the all caps nonsense because the opinion below is nonsense. DO NOT PLAY THE SERIES IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER, PLAY IN RELEASE ORDER

Having played this series in both release and Chronological order, play it in chronological order because the story WILL make more sense regardless of what the clowns beneath me say. DO NOT PLAY THIS SERIES IN RELEASE ORDER, PLAY IT CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER.

chronological order is just objectively bad, DON'T PLAY IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER
in fact this is the best advice for ANY media franchise, NEVER PLAY OR WATCH ANYTHING IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER ALWAYS PLAY/WATCH IN RELEASE ORDER

A Fragmentary Passage should be under birth by sleep since it shows mickey that is it connected to kingdom hearts 1

Anyone even looking at this only play in release order, ignore this chronological bs it's not the way the story was told and chronological will mess you up

I don't get why people can't simply follow the order of the collections. Even those aren't in the exact order of release but it makes more sense than the chronological order people know.

Guide is so ass, if you don't play release order on a first playthrough you're not going to have any idea what's happening.

Don't... even think about jumping in chronologically. Unless you like being confused and hating things you paid for.
