Introducing the Mark 24 "FIDO" Homing Torpedo

Got pesky uboats sinking your much needed supply ships? Japanese submarines being a bother? No need to worry once you sic FIDO on them!

History
What is FIDO you ask? FIDO, or its designated name, the Mark 24 mine(which it was called to keep its real purpose hidden), was a top secret project by the US to create a small areial acoustic homing torpedo intended specifically to destroy submerged submarines. In fact, FIDO was the first and smallest Acoustic torpedo made and put into combat and was used with great success.

The following is from "US Navy Torpedoes" by Frederick J. Milford:

"340 [FIDO] torpedoes [were] dropped in 264 attacks of which 204 were against submarines. In 142 attacks US aircraft sank 31 submarines and damaged 15; in 62 attacks against submarines other Allies, mainly British, sank six and damaged three. Most of these submarine sinkings were German U-boats in the Atlantic, but five Japanese submarines were sunk by FIDOs, one, I-52, in the Atlantic and four in the Pacific. OEG Study No. 289, 12 August 1946, is the main source for this conclusion."

FIDO was first used successfully by a British B-24 Liberator defending Convoy HX 237 on 12 May 1943, sinking U-456. This was followed by a USN PBY-5A from VP 84 which sank U-640 on 14 May 1943.

Features
After many hours of testing, my interpetation of FIDO, in accurate paint scheme, is reliable and deadly if used right. Now, this is not going to outright destroy a sub. It will cripple it enough that it will sink and once FIDO gets the scent it will dive down to reach it. Once launched it will instantly go into hunt mode, if no target is immediately found it will circle until a target is acquired.

Please note that this is not a OP device and will not sink a sub every time. It's a short range weapon. I've programmed it so you will have to rely on a certain amount of skill to hit your target. You also have to have an approximate idea on where the submarine is via a spotter in your aircraft or a sonobouy for it to be effective. I've designed this in a way so its multiplayer friendly and can be used in a server without anyone complaining that its unfair.

NOTE: you have to drop at low altitude and low speed or else Fido will dive straight to the sea floor.

Its small size means it will fit on almost all ASW aircraft if needed with little or no modification needed to the aircraft.

WARNING! FIDO is for aircraft use only! If you try to deploy this in a submarine or surface ship, you run a high risk of a circle back and sinking yourself.

Enjoy this little known piece of WWII history!

I want to thank Bubblehead blake for helping me test and refine the final product.

@Misery, I was like that when I first started. Don't sell yourself short, Everyone has a spark of creativity, you just have to find it. My advice is start small, make a little vehicle or boat that you use for a while to learn the ropes and then use that as a starting point. If you're stuck, there are dozens of turtorials online like MrNJersey or Endoskull that will enhance your skill. "The greatest journey starts with a single step."
