Description
Affiliation: ARTEMIS UNITED COALITION

Ship Series: ARTEMIS GEN 6 SENTINEL

Ship Class: COMMAND CRUISER

Registration #: 412

Ship Name: RANAK

Designation: AUC-CCR-412 RANAK

The Ranak is a compact Command Cruiser used in the Sentinel CORPS. The third most commonly deployed ship in the S-series, the CCR functions as a standard Cruiser in operations but is fully equipped to operate as a command vessel for detached forces, to assume command if the present command ship is destroyed, and can operate as a fully combat capable vessel if needed.

Large CIC inside the ship allows command staff to engage and keep an eye on a battlefield with relative ease.

Equipped with 7 railguns and numerous turrets, much like the Destroyer, this Cruiser is expected to contribute to combat operations just as much as any other ship. Sol incursions are a difficult affair in that they often send large and numerous ships full of one way combatants. No one who arrives to Artemis have any intentions to return to Sol. This makes them dangerous foes and to match that, all Sentinel series ships much be just as dangerous.

Interior designed to accommodate a standard sized crew of up to 9 long term, given its role in a fleet, it does not have passenger accommodations for security reasons.

///// LORE \\\\\

The Ranak, much like the Elium, is the only named vessel of its class/series presently still active. Although its namesake is relatively tame compared to the Elium, the Ranak has a story of its own.

Captain Carol Ranak, a newly assigned officer who took command of the 412, conducted operations as instructed during a Sol incursion. During the fight, the ship was struck with critical damage effectively leaving it dead in the water amidst a swarm of hostile fighters.

After ordering her crew to abandon ship, Captain Ranak remained and used the combat AI functions to control the turrets and railgun cluster to continue swatting enemy ships and even managed to destroy the carrier with a snipe to the control suite, effectively exhausting the ship ammunition supply. By the time reinforcements arrived, Captain Ranak had not only successfully fought off the incursion but perished while in the CIC. A dislodged console had impacted her, crushing her in the control seat.

Although not publically released, during the repair efforts to make the ship combat effective again, the black box records indicate that Captain Ranak had died nearly a full 20 minutes before the end of combat commands. While not a surprising bit of information itself, it left the techs baffled as to how there were nearly 20 minutes of manually entered commands in a ship that had no lifesigns on scans.

In honor of the late Captain, the 412 was repaired and named after her. Currently, it is commanded by Captain Thomas Vanroe. It has not actively engaged in combat since redeployment as it is in a relatively calm sector.

If you're referring to the lore, the only mention of a carrier is in regards to an enemy carrier thay was shot using the Ranak's rail cluster. Is that what you're referring to?

Sorry, not sure what you mean. Can you be more specific?

A bit of both depending on the project itself.

Amazing ship as usual. I'm curious if you general start with an outer shape and then do the innards or do you work from the inside out?

I hope you don't mind, went full anal retentive and redesigned your ship.. I'm temporarily publishing it if you want to take a look at it. Lot of changes in the guts and some interior spaces. I'd like to get your thoughts. Let me know so I can take it down.

Ah yeah I can see that. I tend to go the former since I'm a little lazy. If it all is connected, it works, generally. That's enough for me. Can't believe I posted the ship with such glaring issues. I'll be more careful going forward.

In fact, I have a new ship series I'm getting ready to drop. Includes a Frigate, Destroyer, Cruiser, Carrier, new fighter design, and dropship.

No problem. Like I said, in creative who cares but otherwise, very pretty ship. I like to see how things work. Generally speaking you can go one of two ways..... 1) a single general conveyor system hooked up everywhere so everything from ammo to fuel and oxygen flows every which way through the pipes, or....2) you go conveyor nazi like myself and everything has its own color coded pipe system with sorters and one-way flow producer --> storage --> consumer. Really helps with jams but really ups the number of required pipes. Either way, :steamthumbsup:

@JuGregnaut

Hey thanks for the feedback. Not sure how I missed the issues you mentioned. I went through and refitted the ship. Thanks for the heads up. I went through and sure enough, somehow I ended up replaced a few conveyor blocks with regular blocks in a few places. I never did see any turrets that weren't piped up. Flew through and traced out all the turret conveyoring but they all are tied it.

Anyhoot. Updated the blueprint with the updated file.

Hmm. They should be piped up. I'll go through it and see if somenting got missed and update it accordingly tonight.
