I eventually send her the free mercenaries, that's a small, cheap backline team.
This build should be able to use all three weapons effectively, as the mods on each weapon will determine its effective range.
For the primary weapon slot, SMGs and pistols fill roughly the same role, but pistols should only be used with mercs who have the Ambidextrous trait. Use mods that increase overwatch effectiveness. Rushing in with Run ’n’ Gun to reach cover and then activating overwatch will deal pretty good damage.
In the secondary slot, use a good assault rifle like the Galil or FN FAL, with mods that increase aim effectiveness. Swap to this when there is no cover or when rushing in is too difficult, and use burst or single fire. They can perform well at medium range or even at near-sniper range.
I call this build versatile because, with both an SMG/pistols setup and an assault rifle equipped with the right mods, a Shock Trooper will always be able to deal damage regardless of the situation.
Other then that awesome guide super helpful
