Saints Row 2 True 100% Completion Checklist
By Dr. Jan Itor
SR2 is a great open world game with a large city to explore and a multitude of fun side activities and diversions, the player does not have to look hard to find something for them to enjoy. Like most games there's a percentage based progression system, which ties in with the main story missions/strongholds and most activities. However not every activity and diversion is counted towards 100% completion, the chop shop and hitman activities are not required, while only the tagging and CD collection diversions made the cut.

Prologue
So you've decided the stock standard 100% completion isn't fulfilling enough? Sick of the fact that your Level 10 Ho-ing skills are squandered by a system that doesn't adequately reward you for being the best ♥♥♥♥ in Stilwater? Well my good chum, fret no longer, I've devised a list of *most* trackable statistics to broaden the scope of what it means to truly 100% the game.

IMPORTANT: Stunt progression is frozen once the main story has been completed (possibly including the Julius mission, needs testing) meaning you must complete all stunts before finishing the game, otherwise your stunt progression won't register.

Quick disclaimer: The only way to reset your stats in Saints Row 2 is either removing/deleting game files for PC, or straight up using a new profile for Xbox or Playstation, this is a unfortunate result of how statistics are tracked in the game. If you don't do this, the stats from all your save files will be combined and may show false completions. I elaborate on how to reset stats in the third paragraph of the epilogue section.

Definitely not the first Saints Row guide to use the Prologue/Epilogue structure, but if my 10 minutes of Google searching for another True 100% guide bears any truth (it didn't), hopefully this is the first attempt at making a Saints Row 2 True 100% Completion checklist, but that doesn't make it definitive by any means. You may not agree with all the requirements and that's fine! This guide only serves to broaden the horizons for what is considered 100% in SR2, because I believe the ingame 100% doesn't have the same scope as some other notable open world games.

Any entry on this list with an asterisk* next to it is not required for the actual ingame 100% completion

Diversions
Most diversions in Saints Row 2 do not count towards 100% completion, only tagging and CD collection, however there is so much more to do in Stilwater.

More than half of the diversions in the game are unavailable to the player until they have completed the 'Appointed Defender' prologue mission, these are Tagging, Ambulance EMT, Fire Truck, Ho-ing, Taxi Driver, Tow Truck, Racing, Hostage, Zombie Uprising, Blackjack, Poker, Streaking, Flashing, and Drive-by. However the diversions Barnstorming, CD Collecting, Stunt Jumping, Secret Areas, Store Holdups, and Mugging are available from the start of the game.

Diversions are split into 4 categories: Collection, Jobs, Stunts, and Minigames. This section will cover 3 of these and the other has it's own section.

Collection

35 Barnstorms*
50 CDs
32 Secret Areas*
80 Stunt Jumps*
50 Tags

Jobs*
Each job has 10 levels

Ambulance EMT*
Fire Truck*
Taxi Driver*
Ho-ing*
Tow Truck*

Minigames*

Drive-by*
Streaking*
Flashing* - 10 levels each minigame

Racing* - Earn Gold in all 27 instances

Store Hold-ups* - Successfully hold up 1 store

Hostage* - Successfully take 1 hostage

Mugging* - Successfully mug 1 person

Zombie Uprising* - Complete all waves
Stunts
Obtain 3 gold stars in Base Jumping, and all stunts listed in Combat Tricks and Driving Stunts.

You must complete this section before completing the story missions, as stunt progression freezes post endgame.

All stunts that aren't listed in any of those are not required for "True 100%", like Shield Kills and Brutality. (Kinda sucks that it doesn't show all stunts in the menu but what can ya do.)

By far the hardest requirement on this list, some stunts will be completed through normal progression, some will require very specific tactics, and others you may need to dedicate certain missions/strongholds while using specific weapons and taking advantage of the game mechanics. (For example, to obtain nutshots, use dual wield .44s at the Sunnyvale Gardens Fishing Docks Stronghold in the first run to ensure all the gang members that spawn are males. Fully cancelling the stronghold and re-entering if you fail will reset the members to males.)
As of right now I am unsure of the requirements to consistently obtain the Roadkill stunt, it may be the result of a bug and this requirement might be removed in the future.

Base Jumping* - No Fall Damage

Combat Tricks* - AR-50 XMAC Special (unlock only requires 1 bronze star of each trick)

Gang Kills*
Beatdown Kills*
Headshots*
Gang Vehicle Kills*
Multikills*
Nut Shots*
One Hit Kills*
Slice n' Dice Kills*
Taunting*
Throwing*

Driving Stunts*

Bailouts*
Big Air Jumps*
Burnouts*
Powersliding*
Hydraulics*
Near Misses*
Oncoming Lane*
Roadkill*
Stoppies*
Two Wheels*
Vehicle Surfing*
Wheelies*
Windshield Cannon*
Purchases
Purchase and own all 11 cribs*

Suburbs Dock*
Penthouse Loft*
Downtown Loft*
Prison Lighthouse*
University Dock*
University Loft*
Saints Row Mega Condo*
Hotel Penthouse*
Airport Hangar*

Saints Hideout
Red Light Loft
The player earns these during the course of the story

Purchase and own all 90 stores*

I'm not listing every ♥♥♥♥♥♥ store, the game has an in menu map, you have 2 eyes, use them.

The only prerequisite for owning a store is controlling the hood which it is located, which are earned by completing missions/strongholds.
Epilogue
There you have it, quite the difference between ingame 100% and the amount of content in this game. To this day Saints Row 2 stands as one of the giants in the open world crime genre, and for very good reason. There's so much to do, you get an amazing main story, a collection of fun activities and diversions and a huge range of things around the map to collect, not to mention the map itself is a lot of fun to explore with it's distinct areas with loads of detail, the districts feel genuine with everything from buildings to peds and props, and blend great with each other, for example the High End and Downtown districts being only a short distance from the Suburbs and the Hotel districts, or how the newly gentrified Saints Row district is still surrounded by rundown slums and industrial areas. Every area, from the streets to a laundromat, the peds feel more alive than some games, not just aimlessly walking around, but doing something that has some relevance to the area they're in, whether it be workers constructing houses, or hos working the corner. I definitely could go on but all these points have been beaten to death already, however they all work to provide a great game that has a tonne of replayability. With this list I hope to supply a bit more. :)

All of the objectives listed have some sort of stat entry or unlockable associated with it, whether it's displayed in their respective activities and diversions menus, using the stats menu, or using unlockable rewards menu to display you own the zombie mask, meaning you could provide proof that you've completed them after say, a speedrun or something along the lines. (Saints Row 2 True 100% speedruns when??)

However this is where we start to run into issues, the diversions and statistics pages ingame aren't just tracking your current save file, but all save files under your profile, which is a problem when trying to keep track of what objectives you haven't completed yet or providing proof. However there exists a fix/workaround for all platforms, for PC you need to open C:\Users\[profilename]\AppData\Local\THQ\Saints Row 2, locate profile.dat and all .BBSAVE files, you can either remove these from the directory and store them elsewhere for later, or delete them entirely. Either way both the diversions and statistics pages will be reset. When you restart the game, it will replace the missing files. For Xbox and Playstation it's as simple as creating a new local account, because the game only tracks stats for each profile. (I was only able to test this on the PS3, but should be the same for Xbox.)

A few entries I would have liked to add ended up getting cut, like acquiring all 9 homies, or winning at least one game of blackjack and poker to name a couple, because I felt these objectives didn't have the same substance as the other entries. What do you think? Should I have kept these entries or should I have cut more? Does this list make for anything worthwhile or should 100% just be left the way it is? Let me know how you think I did.

Thanks for getting all the way to the end, hope you learnt something or at the very least feel inspired to fire up the game once again!

Quick update: I've found that stunt progression doesn't register past completing the story, your best bet is to complete all those before the main storyline

I appreciate it man, means a lot! Before making this list I never really looked twice at a few of them (except for emt as a kid i always tried unlocking the defibs early for whatever reason lol) but they add heaps of content, i had so much fun recently playing the drive by diversion and its such a simple concept. Glad to hear you're starting it back up again too! Hope you enjoy! :)

Great stuff! I was just looking for an excuse to start up another playthrough and here it is. I never really bothered with the stunts or jobs that much before, which is kind of a shame, isn't it? It's actually pretty easy to miss in the chaos of everything else. Well, kudos!
