Fixing is Fairly Simple

The first thing is to locate Chuzzle Deluxe in your Steam folder. If you're familiar with this, it's going to be in Program Files (x86) for whichever storage device you have Steam installed to. Find the steamapps folder within the Steam folder, then find the common folder in the steamapps folder. Once you're in the common folder, look for the "Chuzzle Deluxe" folder.

Inside of your Chuzzle Deluxe folder, you'll be looking for a folder called "Profiles".

Entering into the "Profiles" folder, look for the .cfg file named "config". Open it using something like Notepad, and edit the line where it says "ColorDepth=16" to "ColorDepth=32". Make sure to save changes to file, and try launching the game. It should correct the issue of backgrounds being pure black in-game.
