Workbenches: An Overview
What are workbenches?
With the release of update 1.15, the mechanics for blueprints and gun oil were changed. Instead of gun oil cleaning a weapon and the blueprint offering a single unlock for a specific tree, gun oil was given the former ability of the blueprint, which itself was changed to unlock three random weapon progressions! To go along with this, these could no longer be randomly found around the bayou. Instead, they are now found exclusively on top of workbenches! These workbenches exist at set locations, so it is now easier than ever to find blueprints and gun oil!

What do they look like?

The workbenches are distinguishable with their stool, cardboard boxes, metal press, and other features. With a few exceptions, all workbenches have all of these features. The sprocket is part of the base model of the table part, which may be found as a non-functional prop in some locations.

Where do I find the workbenches?
These workbenches are generally found inside of non-domestic structures. With a few exceptions, these are not found inside the boss lairs or outside of buildings. Below, you will find all of the workbench locations documented by both map and photograph! This may not be exhaustive—new locations are added when discovered!

Where do I find the loot?
On top of the workbench! You may find blueprints, gun oil, hunt dollar pouches, bloodbond pouches, weapons, or special ammo boxes.

I've finished redoing a high-res map of DeSalle so now reworked locations for DeSalle are back in the guide! The Lawson Delta and DeSalle screenshots are still pre-1896 and need to be redone at some point.

Please note that there may be some changes to locations on DeSalle that need updating. One of the workbenches at Pearl Plantation has been moved off of the house deck and moved to the side of the house outside. As well, one of the workbenches at Kingsnake Mine seems to have been removed, but its contents may still be spawning on the ground? We will keep an eye on these.

The only thing I could ever wish for on the overview maps would be tiny indicator by each marker to quickly see if it's below ground or first+ floor.

Found a new workbench on the south end of Windy Run! It will be added to the guide tonight.

Still have yet to see the supposed dress shop one after all these months.

Mammons Gulch, Miner’s Folly. Building just north of the boss lair, lowest floor. Sign says dress shop. A sowing table in the back room spawns oil and blueprints just like a regular workbench.

It turns out that the workbench removed from Blanchett Graves was indeed replaced. However, the new one is instead found at Lockbay Docks in the boss lair! The guide has been updated with this new information.

Stillwater Bayou is back out and is completely overhauled! I've finished making a new high-res map and have been going around trying to get brand new screenshots of all of the locations. So far I've noticed at least one workbench seems to be no longer present in its former location, but most seem to be in their same spots. It will take some additional searching, to see if the removed ones have replacements somewhere, but anyways this guide will be updated with revised descriptions, maps and screenshots later today!

It turns out I was not misremembering getting a gun oil in the Oro Gordo cave vault as looting the item box, because I found one again! So that location is back on the guide. As well, I found a second vault further east in those mines, so that is two locations added. It seems that two of the locations in Graystone may have been double documented, so I have removed one of them for now. A good amount of searching did not turn up a third workbench there; I think I was just going in circles in that place!

Anyways, that brings Mammon's Gulch up to 37 workbenches. Perhaps we may find more cave vaults in the northern caverns, but for now that is one more total than we had documented a few days ago!
