Nighttime Remarks

A quick overview of the nighttime gameplay and what characters say in certain situations. Good for figuring out which characters are on your side.

This Guide
This guide is all about nighttime, but mosty a collection of all voicelines characters can give you during this time. Cross reference this guide if you want to know if a character has positive or negative opinion of your character, or if you just want to see what they'll say in specific scenarios.

Everything about Nighttime
Nighttime is the moment between debate and before all roles are up to their business. You can decide to sleep it away in your own room, but going to other characters is much more valuable to garner information.

Red Exclamation Marks
Red exclamations are events. If you're still playing the story, those might be story events. Once in post-game, these only have mechanical use. A red exclamation mark might mean one of three (technically 4) things:

  • If you're Gnosia, and the red exclamation mark is at one of your fellow Gnosia, it will always be an event where the Gnosia character will suggest whom to eliminate that night. Doing as they ask will improve amicability between the player and the character. Useful when playing with Gnosia that will betray eachother easy, like a Raqio and Sha-Ming. Also I don't think I've seen all Gnosia use this either. I'm pretty sure Yuriko does not initiate this event.
  • A character might ask you for a collaboration if you're not collaborating already. Not all characters will do this. The only characters that do this are Raqio, Stella, Shigemichi, Comet, Jonas, Kukrushka, Otome and Remnan.
  • A character might tell you that they caught someone lying and will try and vote them off next round, trying to get you to help them. This might be a lie as well, as it might be a Gnosia player trying to manipulate you. Whatever the truth is, voting off the accusaed liar will result in raised amicability between you and the character you visited. For this to happen, you can vote them out on any subsequent day. Not all characters will do this either, Jonas, Raqio, Setsu and Yuriko are characters that have never told me about other lying characters. This might not be fully correct.
  • One fourth option is a small spoiler, but also something you generally won't use. If the player is a Bug and Yuriko is not frozen on the first day, you can visit her in the Viewing Lounge. She will allow you to either respec your character (I want to change) or look at CG from previous events (I want to remember).

So interestingly, one character will never have red exclamation marks outside of story events. This character is, to my knowledge, Yuriko.

Normal Visits
Visiting a character under normal circumstances will have them say a predetermined line based on how much they like you, or overridden by other situations. If certain story events are happening, these might be something completely different than normal.

Ideally, normal visits can be used to determine whether a character likes or dislikes the player, which is very useful to figure out rifts in the group dynamic, and is especially useful for Gnosia players. Characters never lie about their affinity, however note that characters don't always give you an affinity line. If the player, or sometimes the character are determined to be a Definite Human or Enemy, or whether they're fellow Gnosia or Guard Duty, the lines will vary and will override an affinity line.

All of these lines can be read in the character sections below, so you can figure out what it is they're telling. Affinity lines have been sorted from what I summise at the level of affinity that particular character feels for the player. These might be wrong here and there, but on average they should be sorted correctly.

No matter what you the line is the character gives you, amicability will be raised a bit between the player and the character, though this will do very little if you're already very hated or very liked.

Also, there's only ever 8 characters to talk to. So unless the amount of living crew is 8 and below, some might not be available for chatting. Who is available is randomised, if you have the option to reload within the same loop, you can reload the night and other characters will be available.

I dont know it this is a sixth line I found, or there's another category of lines I missed somehow. Shigemichi was considered "Friend" in the menu, so maybe that has lines too? (That, or one of the Affinity lines turns out to be a Detractor line)

You're 100% right. I just forgot I had this guide, lol. Updated it!

Old guide, but I can confirm that at least Setsu does come up to you to suggest eliminations when you're both Gnosia. In the room, she says something along the lines of "It can be difficult to choose who to eliminate as a Gnosia... How about [character]?" and if you follow her suggestion, the next day she says something like "I lost track of how many times I've already eliminated [character]..."

Dunno about Yuriko though.
